I've traded in My Big E hat for a FXN hat.

FXN added 20+ runs to the terminal here, so I applied and was offered a Line Haul position straight onto a schedule bid run. After much prayer and discussion with my wife, I accepted.

FXN only had 3 L/H men at this barn to start. So with the help of God and a couple of old friends that work there, I got in early in this wave of hiring, that's how I wound up with a bid right away. They tell me FXN is going to put on another big batch of relay runs coming here out of Harrisburg in the summer, so I should be set up pretty good.

It still was a very hard decision to make because I had so much time and so many friends at E. But Richmond pulled almost all the L/H runs out of my barn, and that put me back out on the E/B for who knows how long. Wrong place wrong time kinda deal. Other terminals like 037, 010 etc. got a big shot in the arm from the change, and I'm glad for those guys, but I had to do what's best for my family, my church and myself.

I will say this. If anybody ever asks me about Estes, I will have nothing but good things to say.
It's a great company, with great people, plenty of good freight, and top of the industry pay and benefits. Big E has a very long history and a very good reputation in the world of LTL and I expect they will continue to be a strong player.
I will always be very grateful to God for the job I was allowed to do there all those years.

Thank you big E and God bless all you guys! I pray you all prosper whatever terminal you run out of.
I'll still drop in here and say howdy from time to time.

Let me leave you brothers and sisters with my life verse from the 1611 KJV of the Bible...

King Solomon was one of most wise and wealthy kings of Old Testament times. He wrote that he tried "everything under the sun" to find peace and happiness.
Solomon wrote this at the end of his life in the book of Ecclesiastes...

Ecc: 12:13-
Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

(I gotta go over to the Fedex board now and find out what the "purple promise" is....)

Nothing much has changed really, only the color of the truck. We're all running the same roads burning the same diesel fuel just trying to make it.

Rock on big E !

I know it was a hard decission Kd. I'm sure it was the right move. Stay in touch. I've learned alot reading your posts.

Thanks mildew. I hope I get to meet you in person someday also. I know your a riot to hang out with!
You have no idea how many times your posts and custom pics have cracked me up!

Good luck Kings! It sounds like you have been true to the Lord and he has rewarded you with an open door. Keep on keeping on!

Good luck KINGS, if you don't look out for number 1, no one else will !! Did what you had to do for yourself, hope it works out

I'm going to check with Jr. and see if he can put me in a "Estes Greeter" position..Over 25 years of hold this steering wheel is getting to be too much..The politics in the trucking industry is getting to be unbearable..Again,I love it here at Estes..But the direction that the industry is going, seems to be a destructive direction..I'm just "tired",that's all..

Happy Trails

Good luck and God Bless. It is apparent that you put a lot of thought into this move and Estes has lost a valuable driver.

Don't be a stranger.

You hang in there brother, I get tired of it all to sometimes myself.
Let me share a verse I just got from one of our co-workers in a PM yesterday. It really lifted me up....

From Joshua 1:9
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go."

I understand exactly what you mean about the politics of the biz. getting old. But the Lord gives us strength in the valley.

You are correct KD.. I appreciate the verse,it does help at times.. I was mainly trying to express the concern that I have with good people quiting and going elsewhere..Me.. I'm not going nowhere..I like it here..I like the people here..One of the guys at the terminal last night put it best, when talking to another driver.. If,in these days and times, you don't get discouraged and quit, you'll make it..I'm just tired KD..Not discouraged or terrified..Just tired..But I will find strength to go on..I like it too much..Over 25 years in it,I must like something about it..

Fxn

You will do fine KD. Two good friends of mine work for FXN and both are extremly happy there. I had a similar decision as to return to Big E or FXF last month. Either one would have been an excellent choice but I'm lovin it back here at Estes. Hope to meet you someday.
