A new culture started within the teamster ranks about 20 years ago.At least that`s when I started to notice it. I saw drivers calling in to try and arrange the trips they wanted and becoming overly friendly with dispatchers and other management personel, to enhance their own paychecks, and in doing that were screwing other teamsters. Too many times you see guys tearing down the contract trying to benefit themselves
[/quote] My decision to come to work here was based on there being a contract in place. I believe in the "fair days work for a fair days pay" statement that is in the contract. I never signed anything stating that if the management screws me, I will just sit there and take it. I try to follow the contract to the letter, and I expect them to do the same. I didn't come here to make friends, I came here to make a living. Over the years, I have watched the deterioration of the "brotherhood", all in the name of greed. We watch side deals get made with management everyday that usually cost the company money, which I think is shameful. We watch employees enter the building through the management office doors each day, instead of the employee entrance. I wonder what happens during their trip through the office? But, to each their own. Those of you who do this have to sleep with yourself each night. It also is a sign of weak management. They need to get their ego stroked each day, to make them feel high and mighty. Well, stroking their ego is another thing that I never agreed upon when I applied here. I came here to do a job, so I do what I get paid to do. They don't care for me either, but it's not because of my work ethic, it's because I expect them to follow the contract, just like I do.
Sorry for the rant.
