All laid off YRC employees who have Holland barns in their areas should call the IBT Freight Division and have them demand that they be given preference over new hires or casuals for any and all work! I have reason to believe that YRC is deliberately diverting freight to Holland on the former velocity lanes where YRC and Holland service territories overlap! On a recent conference call with investors, Dollar Bill claimed that freight picked up in the YRC and Holland areas that is 300 miles or less should go to Holland, and that if it's over 300 miles should go to YRC! That's O.K., but who's monitoring the hiring and laying off of workers at the Locals or the IBT Freight Division?! How can you be laying off at one company and calling back everyone at another and hiring off the street or using tons of casuals?
What gives Tyson?! :chairshot:

Peronaly it is guys not knowing or persuing their contract. The company does not want to do this and will not come to you. It will have to be forced by the workers. Now I feel it is the IBT's obligation to make sure the peoples company senority be protected, no mater if its spelled out or not.

Although morally and ethiclly wrong, if a laid off YRC teamster is hired at Holland that persons seniority with YRC will not be recognized. And Holland would have every right to insist that ANY applicant resign from ANY former employer. Enforcement of language NOT in your contract is not possible. What is occurring is NOT right but it is permissable under the terms of the NMFA.

I remember back in 1997 when Yellow had a COO and many were laid off ....several went to Holland and got hired on...6 months later Yellow recalled them and they went back....guess Holland does not want to get burned twice after investing in them?

None the less....laid off teamsters are to be given first hire over anyone from the street...DEMAND IT....call your Local.....KK

One of the supervisors who gives interviews said to me that he Hasnt seen any laid off yrc applications.
He had one guy apply got hired then decided not to come to work after all.

June 8, 2010: Teamsters from several locations have reported seeing ads in local newspapers indicating that Holland Motor Freight, the largest YRC regional trucking subsidiary, is looking to hire. Others report that all laid off Teamsters have returned to work at their terminals.

It's my opinion that no matter which company that's under this umbrella (mushroom cloud), and happens to be hiring, it should be forced to hire laid off employees from the sister companies first. Period. And if they go back to their original company when they get called back.....so what, that's their right.
Get a majority of drivers and dock workers to sign their names on paper, and have him removed, SC Bear. Write a letter to the President of your local, and then send a letter to the Washington to International. Then I would throw your name in, as a replacement. Time to step up, and be a leader. Remember, it is OK to be afraid. Because, being afraid shows that your less likely to make any mistakes. Just make sure you are liked by the other people you work with, it helps for that step up. I never had that problem in Chicago. They either loved me or hated me. The ones that hated me, couldn't accept the truth. We all know who those people are, out of Chicago anyway.

Where does Flash advocate violating anyones seniority?
Looks to me like he is for hiring union brothers over others off the street.
