Holland Recruiting Events

with the uncertainty of the future of YRCW most people would think twice before going there. Everyone knows the situation why go somewhere when it might close and no pension or 401K and be on call. Plus Holland is notorius for laying off in a blink of an eye.

can anyone that is a old school here beleive the condition of this equiptment, it is unreal to say the least. i spend at least a hour everyday getting something repaired on either junk trucks or trailers, and i mean junk. we had a yellow sterling that they wanted me to drive the other day that the whole right side of the dash was gone and the breaker and fuse panel was hanging from the broken up dash with zip strips. and the right side back window had about a inch of good steel left around it. the rest was all rotted out around the window you could see daylight all around it and could have pushed the window out of the cab with your fingertip. i cant believe a road driver would have even left the yard with this pile. my question is how long can this go on. the equiptment here is the worst it has ever been and what is gonna be done about it. do a real pretrip and all of this junk would be deadlined.

We've had to rent trucks quite often because our junk is all lined up at the shop. Then when they send "more equipment", it's old, worn out YRC junk. It usually has to spend at least a week at the shop to be made road worthy. Then once it gets released for use, it ends up back at the shop immediately.:duh:

Driving this type of junk doesn't encourage anyone to come work here.

Why don't you guy's be thankful you have a GOOD Job regardless of the pitfalls HOLLAND is BETTER than yrc, so have some pride and less bitching you could be out of work for 2+years already and loosing your homes or worse Holland has been good to us ......... I would rather be here then CCX or R&L or just about any other truck line and truth be known so would all of you so lit-en up !!!! PS: I have been Happily retired since 3/10 and had 12 good years at Holland !!!

I think YRC/HOLLAND should forget about hiring "recruiters" to entice drivers to come to Holland only to quit a couple weeks later when reality sets in about working for 60% of top scale on low mileage runs that go to the junior men , then being expected to drive unsafe junk that YRC sends to Holland. (To refuse to drive unsafe equipment, as they should do for their own safety, the public's safety not to mention sticking their necks out for a possible lawsuit for knowingly driving unsafe equipment if an accident results, will only result in their dismissal during the probationary period). Whatever happened to the safety concern. The Safety Dept. (if we even have one anymore) is a joke.

Doesn't make any sense going to work.....if you won't make it home safely at the end of the day.

Their are alot of folks still on lay-off, probly 2+ years now. I'll bet there is a few that would take that chance on
the junk knowing they would have a good steady paycheck.

Laidoff at YRC, not sure if Holland still has laidoff members. I recall alot if not all of Holland members
were called back early this year. Alot of junior yrc'er would love to get the junk rolling.

Anyone that's been laid off for 2+ years and is still waiting for Holland to call them back, has some pretty serious issues.

A good steady paycheck??? Has it been good so far? YES. Is it stable? NO. When the titanic goes down, Holland is going with it.
