Actually that also included the west coast fund. I was with UPSF at the time. The pension fund we had was seperate from IBT fund because of the buyout. The only bad part was the fund officers include an IBT rep.

UPS may have better stuff but UPSF just put decals in the doors of most of the old OVNT equipment. When I was there starting pay for city was $18.65hr as opposed to $20.45 at National. Medical benefits were the same and the Vanguard 401k is leaps and bounds better than the UPS pension plan.

I've been wanting to start an IRA because they typically do better than 401k. Also if I'm able to retire from here I should have a good pension considering I started her when I was 21 so should have 30-40 years. That's a scary thought to have that many years to put in.

Im with you Hillbilly,they manage mine also.Its the best decision I ever made.If we went to the old way they would contribute and additional 2.5% into the 401k,if I remember right.Just that would dwarf the pention.The pention is all Fedex money,I like that.

I got pension statement the other day and it made a big jump. Don't know why but I don't remember it being as high the last time c
 
Ok, back on subject. I want tenure after 4 yrs dammit! I should be able to roll over as many as I want without fear of reprisal. And another thing.....
 
I dont want a union here, but also on the other hand the neo-cons running this show are a bunch of fascist. Just like in society, there is no balance. It's either one or the other. With no in between. I also feel that unions dont have the pull like they once had back in the 30's and 40's. In my opinion unions are outdated and useless. They were intended to keep workers safe and put age limits on workers. Now it's all about money and they are just as bad as corporations that are greedy. "Checks and balances" went out the window along time ago. Everyone is blaming China for a taking our jobs. Why dont we blame the politics on both sides? Both republican and democrat sold us out. There is no difference between the two. All they do is divide and conquer. All they've been doing is putting on a show for us who is going to control it with the same ideology. Nixon opened up talks with China. The unions voted in Clinton. Clinton signed trade deals with China. Then our jobs left for China. But nobody in the media has ever said anything about it. The unions just turned a blind eye to what happened. It's a joke.

The UNIONS didn't turn a blind eye...they encourage all their membership to look for the union label; to buy American Made products.

Problem is too many are ignorant as to what's American Made and/or unwilling to pay a premium for it. In some cases the American Made products are inferior quality to imports.

Maybe you could get them to put provisions for antibacterial handsoap in the contract.
 
I guess you have not kept up with pensions lately. The only co paying top rate into the fund is ABF and Ups. Are you aware that when the Ups contract is up, they want to buy out of the New England fund, just as they did in the Central States, a few years back. And the inside info on this is the union is going to welcome the payoff. It will be enough to cover the fund for 10 or so years. Any new employee of ups will come under their plan such as ups freight. The days of the big pensions are over. It was great in its day, but union are now pushing 401's etc. Look at what the union is organizing today, crossing guards and city workers, all with just representation only, no pension or medical.You will do no better there than at fedex. Trust me , Been there. Having worked for many a union carrier, I have never seen a non union carrier work with close to the same work rules. At least in my barn they do. So be careful what you wish for.
