XPO | Reflecting on back in the day...... Comparred to now

This thread is of no benefit to anyone working in the present and serves no usefull purpose.
I think the benifit is in the eyes of the beholder and the purpose is to keep newer eployee's informed of they way it used to be and it can be that way again. Keep bringing attention to the assault on our benifits and maybe we can save a few. And just maybe, they might restore one.
 
Dick palazzo---kind leader lost his steam and forced out ,but had a direction./ labrie--recently.....killed this company

jerry detter-true leader and responsible for the growth and succuss on conway/ stotler-cant shine his shoes and is invisible and not relatable and reminds everyone of corporate b.s.

Free medical ins./ now...out of control slight of hand b.s.

Icp !!!!--remember how they motivated you !!/ now they find ways to not pay it !!

Pension...pension..pension---reason why many current and ex conway employees started . A non -union company offering a pension..brought on better employees and kept the union out !!/ now enhanced 401 k? Really wtf !!!!

Pay--was comparable and slightly better than the competition/ now no raise in years !!

10 sick days---wow. / now--pto--wtf is pto......a new way to screw employees

Spring spruce up--what an idea to proudly show your family where you work--and it was like a family !!

Quartely breakfast meetings-----showed you that you mattered and the direction of the company

holiday dinners---wow---what an ultimate "family' gathering and helped morale


dear conway--do you not see how you slowly have taken so many things and you use the economy as an excuse--how about mis- management ?

How about dropping your draws the last 2 plus years and selling price? .....the old conway sold service..the old conway was the industry leader the old conway had pride !!.....remember the saying ..lead the way---here to stay --proud to say---con-way !!!


How about the 4 stars.... Safety - integrity- commitment -excellence !! And the employees were the 5th star...

How many people feel like stars these days?

You cant be wondering why there are talks of unionizing....and from what i have seen and now see i cat blame them.

Unfortunately all of the above is brazenly true.

There was a time when Con-Way WAS THE FORCE IN THE LTL BIZ to be contended with...but those days have came and went.

Con-way was never the largest...but most most other LTL carriers did their best to emulate them.

The company set standards by which others compared themselves...the company was an innovator...it also had no qualms about exploring new ideologies and operational methodologies setting targets for others to follow.

This mentality has been abandoned for the almighty dollar...and the ever present continuity of the 'bean counter'.

Customer service and exception free has given way to numbers...for the sake of numbers. My Biz101 prof was fond of saying those companies that live by the numbers die by the numbers...and it is true.

The LTL business is self-imploding...people making crucial decisions unaware of what actually drives this industry. The TL/LTL companies will eventually overtake the current structure of the LTL business as we know it.

How???

There are myriads of TL concerns that have discovered the advantage of taking a TL compny and loading LTL shipments on their equipment and pedaling this freight.

So you may ask..."How can this possibility affect the large LTL carriers???."

The answer is simple....

All shippers want is the freight to be delivered in the manner as it was tended to the carrier...

The large LTL concerns do not care about the wants of the shipper...they say they do but when push comes to shove the shipper does not matter...only the numbers are important...FedEx Freight has this down to a science...as does Con-Way.

So how does all this adversely affect the LTL companies????

LTL companies operate on volume...making more money on some customers and less on others.

The loss of certain shippers of high volume by the above referred to LTL carriers would be devastating. Once again referring to the fact these LTL carriers operate on volume...not on service.

The TL carriers are willing to provide exception free delivery as a way to augment the bottom line...TL shipments pay less less than LTL and the TL companies are well aware of this fact.

It will not take many large volume shippers moving to TL carriers to adversely affect the large LTL carriers.

It is coming...the industry is shifting...albeit slowly...but it is happening.

Sad but true, there once was a time when this type of competiton hardly existed. It meant just what it said, T/L, L/TL.
 
Anyone on here can be a judge, you and I, we can be judges. But only the mods have the power to delete, which is what I would do to this thread if I had the power.

I have noticed that alot of things people say "make you sick." Maybe you should see a doctor. From what I have heard though doctors can't cure STUPID.
