It's most likely ups freight truckload. Which was the old special services division.

I think we should all start pulling a Flatbed. Think about it, trailer damage would be nothing, no more forklift holes thru the sides, no patched up holes. Just load your pallets on, tarp it up and go. No more stacking off to damage freight. We'll then pull into a covered yard that we share with package. No more getting wet when it rains. Just take a moment to reflect on this. We need to push for this in the next contract. Can we pull together and get this done? Have a great night and enjoy yourself @ work this week.

That would never happen.

Dream on,however I did pull a rag top trailer when I was working the city for Overnite, with a load of heating components for a school that was under construction.

It was a raggedy old trailer that had a tarp, and wooden sections for the trailer walls, also a header at the tail over the barn doors.
Every thing could be taken off and staked in the nose to make a flat bed.
Fortunately I didn't see to many of those hunks of junk trailers in the system, and only personally had to deal with one.
It took at least two people to take them apart and put them back together, and believe me they were no fun.

I always thought the best trailers were the ones that had the soft walls like curtains that could be pulled up toward the nose.
Of course you could never have any skids staked as if they fell into the walls they would probably keep going out into the street.

I used to see the lumber suppliers with those trailers, and thought gee that would be great for a peddle run, stuff could be off loaded not only at the tail, but all along the sides as well.

Id like to see one of our 450lbs road drivers tarp one of those trailers just once without having a heart attack. They start sweating just from climbing into the tractor.
