FedEx Freight | Workplace hostility...

And your the old guy that takes it in the shorts everytime and likes it I guess.

Yea if you call nothin' but gravy taking it then shorts, then I reckon that's me. I'm taking it right in the hip pocket of them shorts were my wallet is.
Grow a few more whiskers sonny and maybe one day you'll understand.

Ok 309. I guess the little lady in the office in SGF appreciated her 1.16 check and the dock guy in OKC really loved his check for .16 cents. Keep 'em coming:moon2:

Did you see these checks or are you spreading information you "heard"? A bonus is based on income earned. I'll between these individuals didn't earn much to begin with so they shouldn't expect a big bonus. Either way, 309 nailed it.

Having a bad day GR? The OKC guy was simply supporting what we ALL already know. I am not
blasting the company like the old fart #1 driver 309 would have you believe. If I was at the top of the board at my center I'm sure I wouldn't have any complaints either.
And by evidence of this thread I'd say
there is plenty of hostility in our
workplace.

If my numbers ever hit on the Lotto I am going to show up for my shift in my OLD AF uniform. (yes I still fit) That should really cause a Hostile Work Environment. When my Limp-Wristed terminal manager confronts me about my uniform violation, I will smile and say let's go in your office and discuss my future and sign a few papers and ask if he would pose with me for a retirement photo???

Thats an awesome idea! I wish I could find my jacket with the set on the back.

Popcorn, if the lotto folks ever get their crap straight and I win; I'll ship all my uniforms to the terminal via UPS with a note: "It's been real, and it's been fun; however, lately it hasn't been real fun." Think the SCM will figure it out??? Or will he call me to demand to know why I missed my gate time????:duh:

I think that while it's not exactly "hostile", at least where I'm at, you worry about your job. You wonder just how far they will go to get rid of a "highly" paid employee with a new piece of meat that doesn't know any better. I think we're lucky at this SC in that we have some very old hands who remember what it was like when we were a real LTL company. They remember, but can't do anything about, what an engaged employee was (is) capable of. We all know what an un-engaged employee is capable of. We have legions who are here just for the paycheck and nothing more. This is the result of many polocies over the years that have destroyed careers and incomes.

I think people are afraid of the economy. This can cause short tempers and further fear of losing your job. However, 95% of it is the culture of FedEx brought into the mix. They think they can run a LTL company like a envelope/package company. I think they are slowly starting to understand that you can't do that. They are two different beasts with different needs and problems. The military style of running a package company does not work for a LTL company. Just ask any driver for UPS Freight. You can be a lot more intrusive in a package company because you can control a lot of the variables. Not so much in LTL. While a set can get stuck on a pass because of weather, that's not so for a 747. (For the most part)

Absolutely not. That's why this job has devolved into nothing more than a paycheck. You don't appreciate what I bring to the table after my years of experience, FU, then just leave me alone.

That's a tough one. I tell they young guys to get the hell out while they can. The old timers are kind of stuck. The grass always being greener and all. At least here, I know the failings of this company pretty well and can work within the limitations the company has put on productivity and growth. I'm not sure trading for another set of unknown problems would be worth it at this point. It's probably easier to just keep your head down and just chuckle when they bite themselves in the ass then try to recover their pride with a new "program" that lasts about as long as it takes to watch the DVD announcing it.
Good Post!

Fedex Freight /Viking alright! National merger to their center not good, too much hostility not welcome by management On The other hand national drivers are great very friendly! Enjoy sharing the road and c.b with them. Fun to work with.

I wonder if anyone gotten written up or even fired for the national harrasment??
Of course not. It was open season on FXNL drivers. But it is what it is so let it go. I saw a little of it but not much and those that did the harrassing tended to be part of the idiot class of society so I just considered the source.

I'll say it again for the bottomfeeders: The national drivers are just like the freight drivers; the good ones make the difference, the bad one's make the reputation.

Personally, I've met some great drivers from national.

I can't think of alot of negative people or situations I'd been able to say were hostile here at GBO, course I think you have good centers and bad ones too. I'd say some of the Watkins guys were mad as hell and had every damn right to be, the way so many of them were screwed over before they got absorbed into our center. Every one of them great guys too. Far as management goes, they have to justify their positions and keep pushing numbers. It's nothing new but seems to have gotten alot worse over the past 3-4 years. The fedex company culture is finally filtering in and around us, like a fart in a movie theater. I'd say I don't feel like I work in a hostile workplace, but I sure feel like they turned the pressure cooker up and keep on and on with it.

Well if anybody out there is familiar with POS and some of the pos (and I dont mean Pocono Summit) drivers that come in there, then your familiar with their arrogance and sheer disrespect for their fellow co-worker. Speeding through the lot, failure to yield the right of way to no one and my two all time favorites: sitting there idling while waiting turns for fuel and then cranking up their radios with their gay teenager type music so we can all enjoy it .
i here you 100%.try comming to the RCH hub, young hostlers running behind you while you are backing up,speeding in the yard.headlights on highbeam shinning in your mirror while backing up.had a high trl one night, ask the hostler to please and i did ask please if he would back under so i could lower the legs. his answser was,no i'm in a horry i have 12 moves.as for drivers to,they need to stop dropping the dolly in the travel portion of the yard.NO RESPECT IN THE RCH YARD EITHER.

Wow. I transferred from the Cincinnati National terminal to the Terre Haute Freight terminal and have met with nothing but helpful, friendly attitudes. I guess I lucked out.
