If you agree with me on that then you're not a progressive. Progressives on either side of the aisle want MORE government, MORE regulation, MORE intrusion into our lives. I want them to just leave me alone, let me be free, let me work, quit over regulating EVERYTHING, stick to the 16 enumerated powers that the Federal government has in the Constitution, leave the rest to the states or the individual.

Is Ron Paul a conservative in your estimation?

Please give me 5 examples of how the Federal government is over regulating or intruding into your life other than the taxes they impose on us all?

Someday when they have automated trucks and they are eliminating drivers we all might think back and wish we had fought automation with the port guys,.................

When do we get to the point that we are so efficient, we don't have enough jobs?

I think Ron Paul is actually the true conservative, he wants goverment out of your life in all aspects, that includes the ones that the religios right will have no part of..... and he wants our military to come home and quit spending trillions.. It's time to bring them home and last I checked we our broke....:coffee1:

Yeah, I'd say so. He believes in constitutional principals. But, like every candidate, he's not perfect. He's accepted earmarks as a congressman. I don't agree with his foreign policy. Anyone who leads this country is going to have flaws, we're all human. I'm still very much undecided as to who I'm going to vote for in the primary tho.

Ron Paul has some very different ideas, some very "progressive" ideas. Ending the war on drugs, ending the war against gay people and their rights, and ending our foriegn policicy as we now know it, just to name a few things I like about him.

Of course he wants to end Social Security and Medi-care which is not COOL in my estimation.

1. Dept. of Education-that is a state issue, not a federal issue. The department is redundant and a waste of money.

2. EPA-Yes, we should be concerned about the environment and not let corporations pour toxic waste into the water, but seriously?? We need energy independence! ANWR is REALLY REALLY BIG and the area we would need to drill is REALLY REALLY SMALL. Drill baby drill!

3. Social Security-How is my retirement any of the government's business? Why should I be FORCED to pay into something that is insolvent and won't be there when I'm old enough to retire, if they don't raise the retirment age to 90 and I don't ever make it.

4. FDA-They think we're too stupid to know what to put in our own bodies. If I eat the wrong foods and get heart disease, that's MY problem, not the federal gov't. They have new reg's coming out that of the 100 most popular foods sold in the US, less than 10 even meet the requirements!

5. OBAMACARE-We have to pass the bill to see what's in it... REALLY??? How many thousands of pages of legislation? Forcing private companies to sell a product to a consumer, forcing an individual to buy something. You seriously don't see this as the government completely overstepping it's bounds?

I could go on if you'd like.

Ironic thanks to deregulation of our financial institutions, that means less govt for u conservatives, it nearly collapsed our economy had it not been for the bailouts. Yet they still want less govt so it can happen all over again:duh: Only in america...

Back to reality, anyone who does not understand that the U.S. government should be borrowing money to ameliorate this depressed economy is either ignorant, dishonest, or just blindly ideological. Struggling countries and businesses would KILL to be able to borrow at the rates at which the U.S. government is able to borrow. It's an opportunity that you would have be either clinically insane or deeply dysfunctional not to take advantage of. Which of the two descriptions fits the U.S. government is anyone's guess.

Here’s a sample from earlier this year: Ron Paul: Gold, Commodity Prices “Big Event” Signaling Economic Collapse. Oh, and for fun: Understanding Why Ron Paul Knows More About Inflation Than Does Paul Krugman.

Stark you asked me to explain how RP has been wrong on just about everything have fun:

Lame rebuttal.....

Everybody should have health coverage, because the 50 million or whatever the number is, goes to the emergancy room and run's up a big bill and guess who has to pay for it?? I don't undrestand how the richest country in the world, can't figure out how to cover their citizans with basic health coverage. And the easist way to do that would be make each individual responsible for their own health care, ie making them purchace a minimum basic policy. Just don't see the big deal, seems like its the logical and responsible way to operate.....Just don't share the outrage over that idea...:coffee1:

Maybe, because in the not so far future insurance companies we'll be remembered as the biggest scam ever, they serve no purpose other than to make as large a profit for its shareholders.

What for profit company doesn't?? Maybe they should take the profit motive out of the insurance company, i don't know but something has to give, medical costs are eating up our pocket books.
