Yellow | Our Gift to Yrcw

I've never received a YRC paycheck. Laid off, Oct 2008 (Yellow). Resigned rather than report, March 2009. (Letter came from Roadway, by the way) Still- having said that; unless you received that money in your pay, and wrote a check back to them- you only agreed to work for less- you 'gave' nothing back. I'll leave now. Don't want to beat a dead horse...

The topic started 'where did the money we gave them go?'. Fact remains no one gave them money. They enabled savings so the company could continue without having to pay money out. That's not gving' them money. It can show you 'made' a trillion dollars before if they want; unless a store let's you buy stuff with it, or the IRS let's you write it off as a loss- it means nothing. If you choose to stay employed there, then you accept what they pay as 'the rate'. Pretty Simple.... Until you agree on another new rate....

I guess I have to say that I like.

We can play word games and phrases to make it sound better. But the fact of the matter is......our paychecks are much lighter than they would have been, if we had competent people running this company.

If you had been born rich, or 'married up' , then your situation may have been different as well. Don't ever assume better things would have happened. YRC Might have closed/ they Might have restored everything the next week. Nothing 'might have been' happened. Only reality. You didn't 'give back' something you never got. Reality is that you are receivng less money, but still have a job. Nothing else matters, really. Just hope they find a way to come out of it, and possibly keep checking for something better in the meantime....

Here I am, beating the dead horse again......sorry. Just get tired of hearing it from the 'Woe is me/ they stuck it to me' crowd. No one owns people in the USA. Everyone makes choices; everyone is free to leave.

You can say that you are tired of hearing from "that crowd", 'cause that's your right, but you can't accurately say that we didn't lose money. The Company and the Union even call them "the concessions." The definition is to concede, give in, or give back. So yes, we did give up money, even though we didn't ever receive it, because it was originally owed to us.

Yes, and No. Was it guaranteed, whether you worked or not?

It was a Wage Concession. Yes. You agreed to alter the contract to work for less, in return for the Company (hopefully) surviving. That's not a Giveback, which means you received something, and returned a part of it. Nothing in Life is truly guaranteed-- not even that we'll be alive in the coming second. Reality is that you still have a job. In today's Economic Mess-- that's a plus.....

For what it's worth-- I know a Whole Lot of guys that would be more than happy to trade jobs with you......

By the way-- I'm betting the Team that wears Yellow Pants wins the Super Bowl!!!!!! (they both do)..............

You don't even work here so why do you care?

Regardless if you make one million dollars, 500 thousand dollars, or 50 thousand dollars per year, you are used to that amount of pay, and that is what the job was paying. So if you lose 15% of it and your pension.......you do have the right to complain about it.

Complain about working for less money, yes. Misrepresent as giving something that you never had-- No. That's a blatant lie.

Forget it! Now I'm the one......

Try telling families that are on a tight budget that these concessions didn't take money out of their pocket. Good luck.

I understand having it' stuck to you'. I went from #33 at Preston, just a month from getting my 4th week of vacation, to number 244 at Yellow, no sick days, no vacations, a major paycut, and loss of seniority. It Appeared (to many) that it was a contract violation (But shielded by the IBT). Believe me, I was upset, for sure. And felt shafted when laid off in 2008. But it still isn't a 'giveback'. Those people are simply frustrated, and looking to blame someone else for their misfortune. It's the American Way to complain. And Marxism has sneaked into American Lexicon. The Oppressed vs the Oppressors is now in vogue. But that still doesn't make it a giveback. Complaining all day doesn't change language or reality. What did you get paid before the vote? What do you get paid now? Did you write them a check? That's reality.....The thread was about 'what did YRC do with'. They got nothing in cash, so they 'did' nothing with it.

You just like to listen to yourself talk!

Loss of gyro function should only affect stability in yaw, making it difficult to hold a heading. The likely result is uncontolled, shifting piro. The motor would continue unabated. The question would be can the pilot land a spinning heli without introducing other oscillations making it uncontrollable in altitude and attitude

Hey ! Jimmy Geeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Split some Hairs lately?
By virtue of the vote the Employees elected to:
recieve 15% less pay
give company 15% back

Do you know what you call the black part in the middle of Chicken:::shit:::?

Answer:Chicken:::shit:::

So under your way of thinking......we don't actually pay taxes either. Because according to you, we never received the money, so I guess we never paid in the taxes either, because we never wrote them a check. With the 15% "giveback" and the taxes that are taken out of my check, it sure makes it a lot smaller. But, I guess I'm really out nothing, since I didn't actually write them a check for the money. Yep, makes sense to me.

I'm shocked that you have even engaged in such a ridiculous argument...I though you were way above this...I stand corrected.

Withholding is, yes, in a way. Fictictous. Same as the Federal Deficit. They dare to call keeping the taxrates exactly the same as they have been the past ten years a 'Cost of $800 Billion'. It cost nothing. Taxes didn't go from what they are now at 1159pm on Dec 31st to raising at 1200 midnight to $800 Billion less at 1201am Jan 1st. It's all accounting. Baseline Budgeting. For you to REALLY see that income, we need to End Taxing Income totally. End Base Line Budgeting (Where some Washington Beauracrat assumes more taxes will come in and all beauraus will spend more). Go with the Fair Tax-- everyone then keeps his ENTIRE paycheck (The only way you can actually Receive that money); everyone is taxed the same in a National Sales Tax. No income tax, no corporate tax, no cap gains tax. No filing, no escaping, no receipts kept, no writeoffs. THERE- you DO get the full amount. Only then. In the meantime, it's only imaginary, only in accounting. And Totally worthless paper from the government. All in all, they can call it that you made $60,000 last year, or they can call it that you made a Trillion. Matters not if you never received it.

I'm simply going by the Dictionary. Can't 'give back' what you never had. Not splitting hairs, not making it up. To say it's a give back is a lie, and nothing more than jealous political posturing. You either agree to work for the wage, or you reject it and quit. Very, Very, Very simple. I made one statement at the beginning, ("Show me the check?") I'm not the one upset-- apparently many of you are. Why, since it's simple language from a guy with a keyboard, is beyond me. Must be true then.....I study History. Misrepresenting Language is the way the Left urges 'The Masses' to rebel in 'The Opressed against the Opressors.' Don't fall into that trap. The Company is Broke. The Union agreed to help them by working for less. Simple, actually. No money changed hands. Don't get your panties in a knot over it. Accept it or quit.

I'm not a jealous person. I'm not horrible, or mean. I just don't understand jealousy, and boiled to its nibs-- that's all this 'argument' is. Wanting to blame someone. It's not logical, it's not practical. It comes from Satan. Get over it, and quit looking to blame others. It simply 'IS'. And it's NOT a 'Giveback.'
