There is a road driver from LMA that got seriously injured by virtue of a roll away...

He says the roll away was his fault.

His ankle is damaged and will need surgery for it to be repaired.

According to him...he didn't intially report the accident as a lost time injury...thinking it would heal.

When that didn't happen he filed the appropriate paerwork (in OH you have two years to do so).

Some chick at FedEx named Tina C. has denied his claim at every chance.

Even went as far as to hire some legal firm to investigate and enhance the company's chances to deny the claim.

This well defines the 'people first...purple promise...PSP' as little more than BS!!!

FedEx is NOT what they claim to be...not even close!

The company doesn't want a union...but does everything in its power to get one...

I don't get it.

Well Rat, how is the company supposed to know that he didn't injure himself doing the Hoky Poky over the weekend?

HOW MANY TIMES DOES ONE NEED TO BE TOLD TO REPORT ALL ACCIDENTS IMMEDIATELY?

I mean, seriously....... if the concept of 'report all accidents immediately' is so tough to figure out, perhaps you should get what you get.

Fortunately for him, he has first rate insurance, vacation and sick leave time, and then short term disability.

Geeze........

Can't get any simpler than that, Report any accidents immediately no matter how small.

Really Rat ... Do you think this guy did the right thing and now the company is doing the wrong thing by investigating a potential false claim? I beg to differ. Good Luck to both of you.

No matter where u work, if u don't report the injury they can deny the claim. Yeats ago when I worked for us foodservice on the loading dock, if u got hurt on the job they drug tested u at the hospital and if it came back positive u were terminated and they only paid your medical bills.

The same would apply even in a union. You have to report a possible injury within 24 hrs for sure.

A roll away should be instant termination since policy is to have the unit parked with brakes set, engine off and in gear.

Sounds like this fella did everything wrong by not reporting his accident correctly.

The guy I mentioned earlier claims that he didnt know a dropped trailer was an accident,he also said it wasnt a dropped trailer because it stayed on the frame. People need to be more careful and protect their jobs.

We've been told that a dropped trailer is an incident if it's on the yard and there is no damage to trailer, dolly or tractor. I've not dropped one but I know those that have and still have their safety record intact.

Got injured about two years ago when I was at a stop with no dock. Was holding the strap and the handle on the trailer door when stepping down while closing the trailer door and about halfway down the trailer door stopped due to a roller getting caught and when that happened the handle broke off and fell down and since i was holding the strap that arm got twisted and it messed it up. Continued working that day in pain but I also called my supervisor to let him know what happened. The next day it was really sore but I tried to work again that day and barely made it since my arm got worst and at the end of the day I went to the clinic and was out of work for 2 weeks! At least I came in for 4 hours a day and got to see how our dispatcher at the time really worked by mostly emailing girls most of the time and planning his weekends with them with the company email account!

I'm out on injury now. I reported same day to my SCM and he promptly forgot about it. Told me didn't have anyone to cover for me so I'd have to work. Later I called to AMA and they said no way was I working until I got checked out by a Doctor and I've been off for 1.5 weeks now. So make sure you follow up with central after you report it to your SCM, otherwise you may find yourself at the emrgency room at midnight like I was.

I'm sorry ... and this has something to do with what ? the fact that you observed a dispatcher sending personal emails and it upset you ? Well OK I'm sure that will help. Hope you have a nice day

Damn f'ing post trolls around here! I did state I did get injured and about calling when it did happen right away so he had record of it but since they have that return to work program or whatever its called I had to sit in the dispatchers office 4 hours a day and instead of actually working he was goofing around. I did not say anything since I was a city driver at the time! end of story! A hole!!!

In the policy book it's a chargeable no matter what.

In my policy book, if it doesn't hit the ground, it isn't a dropped trailer. If it's on the frame it isn't a dropped trailer. If that's the case, when I back under a trailer, and it's dropped so low it slides up on my frame, then drop my air and back under it, does that mean it should be a dropped trailer on the guy that dropped it last???

Just askin?

This makes sense. If it's not on the ground its not a dropped trailer.

Sure wish I worked in one of those yards. F ing Volvo fifth wheel opened and dropped one in the yard. Got grease on the airlines and it was determined to be a preventable accident.
