For those of us who have to work the night before....On monday , tuesday and wednesday our un-interupted ten hour break will be violated if we have to call in for the rebid. Does the company care?

well...... since it's non-compensated time, I guess it doesn't count.

And for the love of Pete, learn how to use spell check. I mean, for cryin' out loud, this is 2011.

well a read somewhere that a phone call doesn't really count as an interuption and it's actually 8 rest plus 2 off duty at beginning or end of period to equal the 10. Just another slippery slope ... got to deal with it. good luck.

hey.....good catch there bub. I guess we'll have to re-write a ass ton of books, but good catch nevertheless.

Excuse please....the ten hour break is not interrupted by communication between the driver and his company regarding work assignments. That's the law. So, if you choose not to communicate, which is your right, then you forfeit your right to choose a work assignment.

OOppps....don't let the law get between you and your right to be offended over your own stupidity.

You're free to call and bid when your ten is up. They will gladly skip you and save your spot on the extra board until you call.

Here's another option... Call off that day and tell them you're not rested enough to drive.

See, you have options.

NOTHING gives the company the right to call you during your rest period, if you are required to work that night (road drivers). If the company decides to take that road, then I/we have the right to call in or at that moment tell dispatch that you will not be available to work due to your rest being interrupted. I DARE them to write me/you up the next day for "taking an unscheduled day off". And if you are forced to come to work and god forbid you have an accident, the fault will be yours for not declining to drive. Bids are to be conducted during road drivers start of work hours. So YOUR workday starts 1 second past your assigned showtime. I've showed up to work 1/2 hour early to work, out of uniform. A manager/super sees me an says i'm out of uniform, I politely respond: "My show time is xx:xx p.m. therefore, until then, i am still off duty". I do not answer to anyone from FXF when I am at home resting, that is my time, not Fed Ex's. I am not Fed Ex property, this is NOT Military duty where you must be available 24/7. Fed Ex, you DO NOT OWN US!!!!! Technically management has to wait until your showtime for you to bid. PERIOD!!!!

Good luck at your next job! The HOS places no restrictions upon communication between the driver and the company. So dare all you want. There are plenty of jobs in this industry, hopefully your next one will be more to your liking...

It's people with your mentality that allow this company to do whatever the hell they feel, when they feel, and with no accountability. You people that get under managers and supervisors
desks, on your knees.

Wrong answer. It's people like you who screw everything up because you refuse to be a mature responsible adult. You refuse to grow up and accept responsibility for your actions. You demand that the company babysit you. Boo hooo hooo! My dispatcher didn't change my diaper! Boo hoo hoo, my dispatcher didn't properly potty train me! boo hoo hoo, why do I have too hook my own set, break my own set and put the trailers to the dock! Boo hoo hoo, that's someone else's job! I'm a prima donna!

Quit being a *****, grow up and do the job you're paid to do!!!

ST; laughing at the little ******* all around me....

I waited all day and all night for my call to rebid, and never got it. I've decided I'm not going to bid this time. That will show'um. I'll shut the whole operation down. Wait a minute I forgot I retired. That's probably why they didn't call me. I'm having another senior moment. Happy Trails everyone I find all they very amusing. TP
