Yellow | DOT Issues Proposed Rule Requiring Electronic On-Board Recorders

screwed?

I think its a good idea since 309 has no log dept and you can do whatever you want with your hours., I think someone should monitor the greedy roadway drivers. Who in all thier years still have not learned to live within thier means so they screw a junior driver out of work and insurance for thier family.
why didnt you get a job here, ten years before you did?

All they have to do is down load the info from the engine computer, shows idle and road speed and duration. It would'nt matter to most of us if they did put them in the trucks,99.9 pct of us run legal anyway. Screw the .1 that don't.

The cab controller or vcu is where to get the data from, shows, MPH, duration, brake inputs(from the brake light switch) wheel speed for each wheel (from the ABS system) any light switch inputs, heater/ac control input, power window switch inputs, some even have steering inputs. With the right software it's like recreating a flight from a planes black box.

Here's the latest video made by Verizon two days ago, about the 4G Service for Trucks.

Impressive technology, isn't it?

Notice the dispatcher called the driver when he left the cab. A transcript of that call is provided below.

Dispatcher: You're not quitting are you?

Driver: No.

Dispatcher: I saw you leave your chair and I just wanted to make sure.

Driver: Nope, just chaining-up.

Dispatcher: OK, hurry-up and get back in your chair where I can see you.

The cameras can see you outside the truck as well which should help cut down on workmans comp fraud by roadway drivers

Can imagine what those warning letters will look like in the up coming months? A driver will receive a warning letter, and then the driver will approach the manager who gave him the letter, and talk about the incident. Then, you hear the manager say, "I Watched You, I Seen You, I Know What You Did, The Camera Doesn't Lie."

Ahhh, what a nightmare.

Not to worry, especially out of 309. I can't even think of one manager who would be that power hungry, or to have those God-Like characteristics over their own drivers. :biglaugh:

Union members forget the two biggest challenges facing the non-union truckload sector are driver retention, and preventing the drivers that do remain from leading police chases or crashing their truck into State Capitol buildings out of spite.

Funny around here it's all the ex-Yellow drivers getting hurt trying to keep up.....................
I believe tutone was referring to the drivers on the roadway, not specifically former "Roadway Drivers." Try rereading his post again. Don't worry Wrench, sometimes we all have misread replied posts, from time to time. It's a natural, honest, mistake, that's all.

Gives a whole new meaning to: "Just choking my chicken."

I work with stpinindy at another company. We have them. They are pretty fantastic; the company cannot ask you to do anything illegal. Makes our job easy, except for when you are counting the miles out vs the minutes left to make it to a safe parking spot. Our runs are pretty much all 620 miles. There have been times I've had to lay over 29 miles from home, and been paid for it, no questions asked.....

Noodles, YRC isn't the only 'spy'. When I still worked for Yellow, one night we had no work on a Sat Night. Totally none, period. The Break bell rang. Within Five minutes the SOM came to the Break Room saying "TMs on the phone-- he's up watching you guys on the break-room camera and wants to know why another hand of cards was dealt after the bell rang?" TM eventually was promoted to YRC Regional VP........

:LMAO: I'm glad you said it, not me. I'm sure if drivers pick their nose, or scratch their :moon2:, it would be considered an unsafe driving behavior, as well. :Rulz: :hysterical:

Good information spaghetti. Thanks
Your welcome sir. It's nice to get a compliment, because most of time I hear about the crybabies that complain about the information I provide. Now for those angery laptop drivers, lets look at the facts, OK. See, this has been PASSED INTO LAW!!!!

In the development of the CSA 2010 program, FMCSA sought to incorporate several key attributes. Let's take a look:

FLEXIBILITY - Adapt to Changing Environment. Accommodates changes to the transportation environment, such as evolutions in technology and changing programmatic responsibilities.

EFFICIENCY - Maximize Use of Resources. Improves Federal and State enforcement staff productivity, as well as the safety performance of members of the motor carrier community.

EFFECTIVENESS - Improve Safety Performance. Identifies behaviors associated with safety risk; focuses compliance, enforcement, and remediation efforts on those unsafe behaviors.

INNOVATION - Leverage Data and Technology. Improves safety through the innovative use of technology to track and update safety performance data.

EQUITABILITY - Be Fair and Unbiased. Assesses and evaluates motor carrier safety and enforces Federal laws and safety regulations to ensure consistent treatment of similarly situated members of the motor carrier community.

We got the the paperless logs at ATS already and I dont have to much of a problem with them keeps me safe and keeps DOT off my a$$.

There should be a on log book recorder for the super truckers that run over there 14 and there 11 driving..TO TO much cheating going on here.If a driver can't make good money running legal they have major problems.

After reading these posts it seems that most people don't have a problem with the eobr's. I'll bet if we do start running them that it will be the co. thats the one to hate them. If we all are forced to run legal , no more top lining waiting 4-5 hrs while waiting for a hook or shop time. It's going to make us money guys, and probably bring back more guys from layoff.
