Hey, is it my imagination or are we waiting outside of Mc Donald's waiting for people to get fired so we can make them supervisors.....man, some of the new FOS's I have run across are dumber than dog crap....When did Freight Supervisor become an entry level job?

It's the same situation as the drivers, those who know the industry stay away from Conway now that it's just a run of the mill ltl job.

Exactly. No one wants to work here. The word on the street is they run you into the ground and then walk all over you.

Con-way has become a stepping stone job for management. All the more reason for them to push their numbers and make themselves look as good as possible for their next gig.

we have 2 fos"trainees",apparently they signed 2 year contracts, both say as soon as the 2 years are up they are gone, they HATE this place, only about 1 month left for each, hahaha

They hire guys out of college that had schooling in something that has nothing to do in this industry. Some of the guys have never had a job before unless it was fast food or something similar.

We have a ton of drivers at FedEx from Conway. The most common complaint is you never drive a truck in the first 2 years unless the roads are snow and ice covered and the road guys call in sick.

Truth is truth.

These guys are all super truckers until it gets a little slippery. Then they say, hey at least you got a chance to run. I helped you out. Nice.

You're exactly right. These kids have some bull-$h!T college degree like one in "logistics". This is like a glorified dispatchers degree.

And in response to the original post, yes, they are dumber than dog excrement and haven't worked hard one day in their life. We've got one who thinks he's supposed to have a PEP-RALLY evrynight! It's disgusting. Of course the douchebags in Ann Arbor love a cheerleader!

I am not promanagement, but you are blind insane or ignorant if you are going to claim that some of the new fos's are nearly as bad as most of the dsr's. We need all the extra help on the fos side to keep you dsr's from killing someone. lately they will put anyone behind the wheel.

Its all about the college degree.

This company (and many others) perceive the advent of a college degree as a level of 'one upmanship' over those who do not possess a degree. They firmly believe those possessing a degree have superior skills over those don't.

Unfortunately this has been translated into the LTL biz...and just as unfortunate is the fact that is doesn't work.

This is a 'hand on' business...you can't understand it unless one has performed the job(s)...most of those in current management positions haven't performed any of the positions in LTL...yet believe thay have the skills neccessary to manage it.

They don't

Rat

I am sorry to burst your bubble but it aint that hard on the dsr level. All the new fos's need to do is make sure us animals do minumum. You look around no matter what position u hold cty road or dock, the majority are not earning there pay

yes ! yes ! yes we do !

we have spirit ! how 'bout you !?!?!

My personal favorite during a pep rally was a statement about giving 100% every week.........20% on Monday, 20% on tuesday, 20% on wednesday......you all imagine how the rest went. Everyone died laughing......including the supervisors. Things were different then.

I wouldn't say the majority, but they are out there. And yeah, this job aint hard.

I still don't understand why you haven't become management. You seem to know how everything should work and could easily be CEO where ever you wish by now.

and BTW I still have never attended a college class and am ahead of many who have degrees.

Obviously you need to get out of your little sic now and then and see how other terminals work......I'd say the dsr's in this company are earning their pay, while most fos's and all upper management are way over-paid.....
