Yellow | Hoffa Elected To Fourth Term By Overwhelming Margin!

I think it is overwhelming that he was reelected?
I bet the 20% was not in the trucking division.
I remember the second time he was reelected when I was still a city driver.
Just for giggles I took a personal pool asking every trucker I ran across back in those days.
If anybody had voted for him to another term.It was a while ago but I can recall that nobody I asked.
Either said they did or if they did they would not admit it.

Well I am enjoying my retirement now days, but really hate to see how weak the union has gotten.
I was hoping to see a new face that may have been able to pump more life into the Teamsters.
Which once apon a time was the strongest organization in America.
Oh my how times have changed,so now that it is going to be business as usual with the same old same old.
Where do you think this union will be when the next election rolls around?

Out of the three candidates running, Jimmy Hoffa was the ONLY choice. He's smart and has the right connections and knows how and when to use them. Pope, get serious and Gregare is just a joke. Don't put all the blame for the problems on Hoffa, look around, the whole world is in trouble. We have borroed ourselves into oblivion and unfortunately it's time to pay. All those jobs that nobody wanted to do, look pretty good now, too bad they're all overseas and paying one-tenth of what they paid here. Companies are beating up on the middle class and taking advantage of a poor economy and we need true leaders like Jimmy Hoffa who will stand up for our rights to lead us into this fight.

I only wish the Teamster Web site would post other important things as fast as it did the election reselts! Why do members have to go to "Other" web sites to get answers they need?
Anybody else out there following my drift?

I wouldn't have any victory parties if I were MrHoffa.a lot of work to be done to restore this wreck.I'm not thrilled with about too many things.as a yrc employee there is nothing to smile about.just one thing is this.I have a job that pays the bills..barely.between taxes and a 15% pay cut not much left.thank God I don't have child support to pay.because I know some guys do

Maybe only 20% voted but if 100% voted the margin would still be the same. It is not like only the supporters for one candidate failed to exercise their right to vote in this election.

Elections over.....Hoffa won the majority of the votes in a 3-way race......the members that cared to vote have spoken.....get over it....move on.....KK

Which right, Freight division specifically, has Mr Hoffa stood up for? There are thousands of grievances unresolved, YRC does whatever it wants, irregardless of what the contract says, and membership has fallen by over 50,000 during his tenure. Our pension funds are on the verge of government takeover. "We" haven't borrowed anything, last time I checked that was the company. The jobs overseas were allowed to go when a
Democratic majority in Congress allowed a Dem President to sign NAFTA. You remember the 20 million + the IBT leadership donated to that
presidency, don't you? The only drivers I have seen Hoffa stand up for is ABF. How their grievances are doing, I am unsure. If you work for them, I can see why one might see him as a leader. I do not and therefore am astonished when I see someone speak so glowingly about him.
"True" leadership would benefit us all not just the "leadership". "True" leadership would motivate the majority to participate. What did we have 20% vote? By the way, I have looked around, "True" leadership seems to be sorely lacking in this world, no wonder we and the rest of the world are
in trouble...

Well all i have to say is, for all the crying and b#$ching the numbers did not show it. You look at Harrisburg 776 and Chicago they were huge hoffa support and that is where most of the Frieght companies are. Look at 771 we have 1700 members but only 296 voted.

Lets move on and try to rebuild the union to what it once stood for

Where was Hoffa for the debate???? He has no clue to what is going on, he can't be put on the spot with union questions. All I can say is it's ashame we have such bad voting turnouts.

Tell me one thing Hoffa has done for the Teamsters that is positive since he's been President. He once said the 25 yr and out with $2500 a month that we had with Cary wasn't near what we'd have if he were in. I guess in a reverse sort of way he was right because what we have now isn't close to what we had. How much has Hoffa and Tyson's pension suffered? He brought back all the "Old Guards" multiple salaries and pensions. Somebody has to pay for the Fat.

You know freight don't control the vote anymore and ups never did care so that leave white paper contact people to vote and i don't have a say because I'm retire. But it don't really matter how you voted you need to keep in house and stop posting all over this site and facebook there lot union haters out that love the read all the post and run with.I understand we don't all the vote out come but go to your local hall meeting and voice it not on here.

This post brings up an interesting point. Why does there seem to be a double standard in the democratic process here? When any politician runs for elected office the country accepts it as his/her right to do so and an election is held. Opponents are not retaliated against and they are not accused of "wasting our tax dollars" by running when it is pretty obvious that they will not win. We publicly trash the :****t: out of our presidents, senators and congress people. We **** and moan relentlessly yet nobody talks about how all of this hurts America's attempts to push democracy on the rest of the world.
In contrast the first thing a union incumbent does is play the "he/she is wasting our dues money by running for election" card, by the way, this is one of my biggest pet peeves, screw those who think they own our union, forget that they once ran for election, and think it is some kind of crime to run against them. Then there is the, "he/she is trying to destroy our union", all of the above make me embarrassed to be part of a union. A tiny portion of me agrees that badmouthing our leaders is not a good thing, but it is one of the biggest rights we, as Americans, have in this country. As a matter of fact, it is one of the pillars of our constitution and why we are here on this continent, along with nine other reasons and then some. Outside of union politics, any political candidate that acted the way our union leaders act over the democratic process would be thrown out of the political arena as quickly as they opened their mouths with these complaints.
So, I just want to say that we all have the right to speak our minds, run in elections that we are qualified to run in and like or dislike whoever our leader is.

Hmmm.... I beg to differ with your opinion excfman.
If you were a Teamster who had put up with a lot of negative issues during any career in trucking.
Enough to have earned a pension and are currently drawing monthly payments.
Even though those of us that are in that category were not able to vote.
We all should be concerned about the future of the Teamsters.

I wonder if Fred got a "bonus " for running......Think about it.

KK no particular reason except that in computer world the different collor ink on your post only make it look as though you have some type of authority over the others, that's all..
