I Remember the days you NEVER saw a dirty NEW PENN truck. I think they just bought new ones to replace them. Envied many of those drivers when I was in my old Preston tractor that came from Jones Motorfreight, with half the dashboard missing. Green and orange mixed make brown.... and thats what they were.... a brown turd. Still was the best company I worked for though..

Looks like equiptment from the mid eighties, tractor looks like its from f+h trucking whom they used to interline with in mass.

Those were cool they did it all ! Ran wide open pulled 44000 lbs of armstrong tile up hill, and set wide open !!! Used to drop the air tags at 60 mph and do the air plane landing smoke show !!

as far as new equipment goes, im out of Maspeth 07 and they have replaced nearly all of our old st.trucks with newer ones. No, they aren't brand new but they are a helluva lot better than what we had. and they all have a/c & radios. they also have been replacing tractors every other week so i dont think anyone can cry over the equipment they're using.

radios? when did new penn equipment come with radios? hell when i got my mack brand new i even had to put speakers in it..

newer not new.

that depends on the leasing company, because the trucks are all leased...Sorry to say!

just curious, why do some of yall care if the equipment is leased or owned ? alot of us lease our personal cars so what's the difference, is the bank coming to get it ? we're in the trucks 8-12 hrs a day, it's not like these are our trucks so what's the big deal ? yes i understand New Penn owned everything at one point and because of YRC everything is leased to satisfy the banks but you guys act like sh*t has changed. to this day, we have never been in any financial danger nor has any terminal or truck been repo'd. sorry but this makes no difference to me.

Equity....With purchase you build equity with rentals or leases you ultimately pay more.

They probably lease because they have no credit worthiness to purchase..why else? unless they own the leasing company and they use this to filter cash (which I doubt).

Bingo..they do have a leasing company.a few years ago.when we were talking about the first give back.(10%).I saw a flatbed trailer and daycab rig that was branded with a local steel company.in small letters I read YRC leasing.both trailer and tractor was being leased from YRC.this was in dallas fort worth tx area
