ABF | OD vs ABF U-Pack

As long as I am on a city street and not on private property I have never had ABF give me a letter or any grief over taking out utility lines. I still don't like it when it happens and it is annoying when I have to get out and unwrap the cable lines from the drive shaft and I even feel bad for the angry homeowner who just got their cable or phone ripped out. But it is always the cable or phone lines that are too low and we are not responsible for the incompetent installer who left the wire lower than he is supposed to.

Im really happy im not a city guy.As far as it goes your always guilty until proven innocent. I got a chargable for a tree falling on my trailer during a storm with 50 mph winds that knocked power all over the area. So who can answer this who is the mysterious safety comittee at fort smurf and are their qualifications and credentials to make them suited to the job? I mean do they buy the janitors a box of donuts and say take an extra break or what? Also the contract says u you will not be judged at some foreign terminal,so how many drivers are stationed at G.O.?
Sorry ABFer This is the post I did not understand! YOUR BROTHER ALWAYS!

Muler, would really like to meet you. With the angry face, the types and color, the font size, you seem like an angry guy. YOUR BROTHER ALWAYS!

Yeah Muler...You don't realize just how intimidating you can be sometimes...lol

PEOPLE if you want people from other forums to NOT post on your forum why in the world do you call them out and there comapny and ask them questions ?

Personally, I don'e care who comes into post. But just stick to the topic of the thread for cryin out loud. Someone posts a topic and we go all the way out into left field to make an argument about something else. That's all.

ok .. i have to put my two cents on this with od goin into the u-pack bussines ,they will under bid abf .. they can afford to give discounts , but customer usually will see our track record and be confident their personal stuffs get there on one piece !!!

It is not like ABF wrote the book on moving your stuff in a container. We also cut the rate on the previously existing competition and still make money on the moves because of our positioning in the transportation market. I don't want any competition either but I find it ironic how we feel differently when we are the ones gaining competition out there as opposed to when we move in on someone elses' market.

ABF Upack is a well oiled machine. We know how to handle company transfers, military moves, old ladies who can't load their own stuff. Usually the only complaints are from people who expect things that just cannot be done. I say let the competition try. We have beening it correctly for along time. Maybe in 10 years they will be a threat but not next week.

I don't work for ABF but I always heard mostly positive things about them from the drivers I knew. From the way I got it the u pack it program only consisted of dropping a pup in some guys driveway and bob tailing out , peace of cake hell anyone could do that . Now they got something with a fork lift on the back of a flat bed with little storage containers that ya set down the guys drive way that might be more difficult . We did that drop and hook with the residential 's years ago at Yellow . The customer would load all his house hold goods, put on his own lock we'd come hook it and go seemed pretty simple to me and was good revenue .

Let me again for the record say I am not sad that OD is in the moving business. I think it will help us to gain some of their market share in freight. You will see why after a few months in the summer. YOUR BROTHER ALWAYS!

Why don't the guys at OD grow a pair and organize.Everybody walk off at once .
I know it's a pipe dream.lol
Gotta love that no OT after 50 or 60 whatever

Do you see a lot of this U-Pack? I work for FedEx Freight and I suggest to anyone that will listen .... U-Pack! Its a much better alternative than an inexperienced driver in a 24' U-Haul pulling a car dolly.

It is a better way to move. It is hard work but it saves.

That company has those clowns convinced that if they were to pay overtime, they would only see 40 hour weeks. Like the hours would just dissapear. So the drivers would rather be able to work 60 at straight time. They have a thread going on the OD board about the new HOS and how it will prevent city drivers from pulling weekend l/h loads to help make ends meet. Talk about stupidity.
