Road drivers going from local terminals to breakbulks. Velocity is done(didn't work) Work going to New Penn, Holland,Reddaway. They do next and 2 day BEST! Welsh say's National to focus on 500+ mile Frt which we are geared for.


Welsh was also talking about the "world class service" YRC offers. Does that include the 2 inbound pups from last Friday 2-3-12, that our crew couldn't strip, because not enough 4 hour (lay-off)employees answered their phones? Not to mention, the inbound supervisor(idiot) forgot to force the outbound crew 2 hours. OOPS! They were stripped this morning 2-6-12, 3 days later. Now that is undeniably world class service.

From what I understand, this routine is happening at other terminals also?

Triplex, the only reason the company is allowed to do what they are doing is because of thong wearing boys like you. Grow some balls and stand up for what is right. I will do everything in my means to stop this BS at my terminal. And with my managers help. Cause he knows what happens to service once we are gone. He has seen it before. He's been around more than 30 years.

I remember a nice little pep talk before velocity. It was close to the tune of "we are a company that is not growing nor are we getting a piece of the huge pie, If we don't start taking a slice of the NEXT DAY and 2 DAY market we are going to slowly DIE!" this COO is nothing more than a job killer and possible company killer! There is NOT a big market for 3-5 day freight! Let me correct that there is a market for 3-5 day freight, yep there is a market and we can compete with JB Hunt, Schneider, CCC, and Werner because that's who hauls 3-5 day freight TRUCKLOAD CARRIERS!!! Everyone should take a good close look at their freight bills the next month! Con-Way, Estes, Fed-EX, ABF, UPS Freight etc....that's who these customers are going to pick because THEY DO IT ALL 1-5 day freight. On another note 500 miles is 3 day freight I'm assuming? The others I listed will do it in 2 days, so if you were a customer who would you pick? I myself would pick a day faster for the same or cheaper!!!
 
If we will not be doing velocity work at YRC freight than why are the drivers that run the velocity moving to brake bulk terminals as a follow the work opertunity? If they are following there work they should get to dove tail into the company that there work is going. How much of the inflated 48,000 bills a day work is velocity? Maybe KK will answer these questions??
 
Velocity drivers are not moving back to anywhere, only line haul drivers are transferring(or have the option to) .
Nowhere does it say we are giving the freight to anyone, if you follow that logic then NP and Holland drivers would have the right to follow the work when YRC under cut the pricing to get it in the first place.

Yes velocity drivers are road drivers at end of line terminals. These drivers are being moved to the break terminals that they currently run to. YRC will not pick up velocity freight from customers anymore, they will not offer that service. So I would take from these facts that we are giving up the velocity freight. This means a loss of freight. Any question??

Nope, velocity drivers are staying at their present terminal. Every single one of them. They are going into the city operation. YRC isn't turning down less than 500 mile freight either. They're just not going to gaurentee next day unless the customer pays for gaurenteed service.

Well now I'm really confused. I thought a utility driver and velocity driver was the same thing. What was the difference between the two jobs?

A utility driver can work his freight when he gets to a terminal while a velocity driver is just a line driver on a dedicated run but cannot touch freight .
