i am an avid reader of the postings above the urinals, and do believe some of the write ups are occasionally humorous but mostly absurd ,guys getting written up for driving to fast on the dock, walking out of the crosswalks, getting something in eye while driving?????????seriously ?no 4 ways no seatbelt no three point exit out of a tractor?a dispatcher can waste deisel fuel sending you a place only to meet another conway driver who is making your pickup and have the guts to write you up for an absurd petty peice of crap like this?what is going on in this place.........white shirt please help us drivers understand this.:regretful:

This is the con - way. Get used to it or move on.

It's a great way to get rid of unnecessary employees during the slow time of the year. It avoids paying unemployment due to layoffs. Again, they can crowd around the boardroom and congratulate themselves on being masters of the universe!

Do people actually get written up for this stuff? I really dont like wearing a seatbelt, especially when I literally get off the damn motor at least 100 times a night. I try to follow all rules to the best of my ability though

I know the guys who arent too well liked usually get written up for the pettiest of things, but I fly under the radar. I do my job to the best of my ability, quickly, get along with all my coworkers and dont get involved in office politics. So maybe that helps, I dunno

These rules are all in place for one reason or another. Some are OSHA requirements, some are for basic safety. Unless you feel that OSHA and Con-Way have no rights to enact such rules, you can not say that they have no right to enforce them.

Do you think if OSHA does a surprise inspection and finds out that seat-belts are not being used on the forklifts they will just ignore it because they know drivers think they're a PITA to use?

At NRM FAC you will get warned 2x in a single night to wear seatbelt...3rd time an FOS or FOM catches you that night is a write up.

I've gotten in the habit of wearing my seatbelt on my lift and it doesn't slow me down like it used to, but when you get off the lift 30 times a night it does get old.

kind of hard to follow the rules... when you don't know what they are. driver got written up for dropping his dolly in the wrong spot.... He said" I didn't know..." response: " It's in your employee handbook... " Ummmmm, canadians don't get one, how are we suppose to know the rules? Shoulder shrug, " sign here please."

does this employee handbook exist? I didnt get one...being sarcastic..If you want people to follow rules, put them out there and Im sure alot of issues would be present in the first place. But enforcement of rules seem to vary from terminal to terminal

Are we a bunch of 5 year olds? How many times should you have to tell an adult to do something? If you are required to wear a seatbelt and are told that, that should be enough I think. If you can't do that, " not YOU personally there Freightdude" you deserve the write up in my opinion.

Yeah, I love how the rules change based on 1)who the rule is being applied to 2)who is enforcing the rule 3)what the rule was in the first place.

No...we are not five year olds! OMG!!! Really!!! Third graders are EIGHT years old. :)

i do wear my seatbelt and do follow all of the other time consuming rules in wich our "friends"have installed.my major gripe here is the fact that guys who have not and can not do my job are instilling a bunch of b.s policies to try to justify themselves being employed at a trucking company.i really love the way they use the word "team" when most whiteshirts get off on handing you a letter of instruction ,they certainly do not understand the sacrifice us productive members of conway go through to put food on the plates of ours and yes their families plates.just go back to your heated offices and let us men do our jobs so that you may continue to reap the rewards of our hard work.

It is not your job to be productive. It is your job to be safe. A guy out of my barn literally got a write up for driving to quickly on the FAC dock. All that hurrying will get you no where. Just be safe no matter what. The freight will get there eventually and you get paid by the minute. Safety always. Safety. Safety. Safety.
