CUSTOMERS THIS IS THE REAL TRUTH ABOUT SAIA MOTOR I HOPE THIS ANSWER SOME QUESTION FOLLOW MY BLOG ON THIS SITE WILL HAVE MORE INFORMATION FOR YOU. CURRENT & FORMER ASSOCIATES PLEASE TELL THE TRUTH & ADD YOU’RE COMMENTS.

HORRIBLE SAIA DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS OR ASSOCIATES what do you like about working at Saia Motor Freight? Pay is okay but they make up for it, weekend work short staffing always catching up working 15+ hours daily and if you are a supervisor inbound or outbound it could be 6 or 7 day a week. Saia took 5% from management & hourly in 2009 gave back 2 1/2% in December 2012 . What did they do with all that money? What do you dislike about working at Saia Motor Freight? Saia motor has horrible upper management & senior account managers no one works together they all finger point and blame drivers-clerks-terminal managers & supervisors. As a manager Saia never gave us the proper tools to be successful. The equipment was horrific had 5-8 breakdowns daily this is on the low end staffing was terrible the company would allow you so many dock men & drivers to use daily. Saia V.P. operations Paul P. would set unrealistic goals that could not be met no matter how hard you would work or communicate to them, that a different plan was needed. Regional managers would have managers & supervisor to change operation numbers it seemed to me it was a common practice in the company I would always laugh at the service indicators they are not as close to what Saia reports. Saia does not train their dock associates could not believe how bad it was I have been in the transportation for over 20yrs and this is the worst I ever seen I would tell upper management about the problem & account managers but they did not care I felt horrible for our customers Saia was causing all there damages but did not care. I will submit photos of customers damaged freight you be the judge of Saia motor. What advice would you give to senior management? Saia needs to tell the truth to their customers and fix their problems Rick O. needs to get out of his cooperate office and visit & talk to his associates and listen listen listen listen listen . The company has taken numerous steps backwards after they terminated Tony A. Senior VP of sales & operations. He visited our terminal several times and would at least listen to what you had to say and fix problems. Paul P. where are you don’t fix problems sitting at your cooperate desk and making horrific decision by hiring cowards like Bill M. Final thought customers do not ship with Saia if at all possible use another carrier if you do track your shipments and get extra insurance on valuable freight! And please don’t overpay they cheat on their customer service indicators do not depend on Saia the will screw you.

well dam sounds like somebody got fired lol. yeah we have our problems and we vent about them now and the but the truth is all ltl companys operate the same(with the exception of aaa cooper they are still family owned and a pretty stand up outfit) just read the posts on here from all the ltl companys everyone is pissed at management at all the ltl companys its just the way it is and it aint gonna change. i myself am thankful to have a job with saia that pays as well as it does there is not much in my area that does pay this well. i could be working in a factory(what very few there is left that didnt move to mexico) or working outside in the weather, dirt, mud, and snow i think we have it pretty good myself over all.

Its a spin off of YRC for sure... who is the CEO'S Father inlaw?

:regretful:

Damn, I'm going to half to pay closer attention at my barn seeing how all ltl companys are alike, I thought we have it pretty good where I'm at but I must have missed something and my barn went in the tank while I wasn't paying attention. I think some people just type before they have all the facts, but for my ltl company I'm very happy where I'm at....full scale, bennies and new equipment!!

Ouch...that left some marks..LOL. The post about Cooper being stand up?? They'd cut your throat in half of a heart beat just like the rest. Just ask my ex. She'll say nothing good about them except still kissing their butt for part time pay after numerous years.

im sure all is PERFECTLY peachy at arkeeesaw bess....ive seen you make several posts regarding your satisfaction with your company.(happy for you, bud) to insinuate that things are absolutely PERFECT at your place is not believable. especially on a "freight hauler" board. you might want to sell those goods on one of the o.t.r. sites you snipe on.

i personally dont appreciate this post. MAY be completely fictitious. this is his first post....no profile.....come on!completely attack a company, aiming at its customers...this douche bag could be a sales person from a completely different company who may or may not have just lost an account to us. (who knows) either way...NO company stays in business for 80 or 90 years by pissing on employees and customers! like to see such a b.s. post erased some how!

LOW-BUDGET

The truth hurts I will post pictures of damaged freight at your company and to go a little bit further in later post I will tell you how upper management is cheating u out of your money (linehaul milage/new time clock/vaction pay/ etc. I am here for my customers & the hudreds of associates that have worked under me so be open minded belive me it will benifit you!

Tony A. IMO is a big part of the reason we had to take a 5% cut. I know it was a bad economy etc., but to authorize the deep discounting by sales reps. to steal YRC freight really hurt this company. Paul P. doesn't have a clue now that he's a big shot. For someone that worked there from the bottom to where he is, he has really lost touch. He blasted my TM for us staging freight everywhere to dig freight for out first ATL cut due out at 2015 even thought he held us in a pointless uarterly meeting until 1915. There are alot of problems in this company, but there are alot of problems in most companies as well. I see the pressure the uppers put on the lowers. I work the dock, run linehaul, and use to be the backup O/B supervisor. I do my best to load trailers correctly so the drivers do not get overweight tickets and the freight will make it to it's ultimate destination undamaged. Sometimes people just mess up though. I can say there needs to be better training at the breaks on how to load a trailer so the axle weights are good, especially with vans. We had a driver departing ATL last night get shut down at the Georgia scales for being too far over on the drive. This cost the company 2 hours on the clock for someone to take him a tandem, and also delayed a bunch of bills arriving causing extra dock hours. The bad part is the trailer was 36,000 pounds so if it were loaded correctly it would have passed. All in all there are issues that need to be addressed, but overall I enjoy working here for the most part.

Demolitionman

I like your positive attitude and seeing the big picture I wish could come out and tell who I am but this is a very good form to get information out. Believe me I loved working for Saia the people (drivers/dock men/customers/etc. not upper management. Started in transportation when I was 18 worked my way up floor level supervised or managed hundreds of associates. I was fortunate to have and still do have contact with Tony A believe me he does come across a little different to some but he was honest and most of all he would @ least listen to what someone would have to say on any level. The Yrc take you had was interesting I know at that time Saia thought they were going to fold so the company was very aggressive in getting national accounts from yrc but Saia was not prepared to do that manpower equipment etc. I definitely voiced my opinion on that matter. I believe the 5% increase was due to the amount of claims I look back at the numbers they increased every Quarter to almost 5mil (could be wrong but close) the number is deceptive because it is a percentage of the full amount that why customers are pissed off. You sound like you are a good dock men but I could not believe the dock men they were getting and paying that type of salary with no training inexcusable! Saia upper management would not commit to training tried to force it on the supervisors it does not work period. I told all my line haul driver do not trust any load leaving inspect your load because upper management will blame you and it is your lively hood, Saia does not care I saw to many accidents and upper management would fault the driver and then terminate them which was not right I saw it to many times. Be smart cover you’re A-- if you don't Saia will nail you. Keep documentation I can't tell you how many times I have told drivers this remember why go after a dock men in a lawsuit when the driver is a state/federal trained professional and Saia has the checkbook. Saia needs to hear your voices they can't terminate everyone be professional ask questions, get with your co-workers get facts about Saia and ask the questions to management.

Don't know who that was directed at but I will tell you I don't work or for that matter will ever work for ABF.

heres some truth...ALL freight co. have damage. So posting pictures of damage freight is going to prove what? freight gets damaged everyday.......AT EVERY freight co. ....is the damage freight you plan on posting a pic of....is this the first piece of freight damaged in the history of ltl??? please! you obviously have an agenda against our co. for unknown reasons. il be open minded....as i tear open the edges of my pay check and watch my children eat steak several nights a week. as for cheating L/h drivers out of mileage....its all math. black and white....IF any shorting goes on...its unnoticeable to me.They can have it if thats whats going on. saia has been the best place ive ever worked.16 years of ltl including c.f. con-way american freightways. past 7 years at saia have been the best.--keep your nonsense.

It has been stated(myself included) that all trucking companies are all the same when it comes down to the truth. They all damage freight,**** off customers, screw the employees..You get where I'm going with this. Only difference is the colors of our trucks.. Most everything is the same.

I've often heard these type of gripes aimed at many companies . I believe that there are some things that we dislike about our places of employment . If you communicate with drivers with many of the LTL companies , I'm SURE that ALL of these have their good & bad . I know a little about the various companies , and I think that there are
much worse jobs with MUCH WORSE companies . Bottom line : If you find a better gig , GO FOR IT ! But be smart about it . It IS possible to make a bad decision !
Meanwhile , a lot of this anger could be aimed collectively at our government that's trying to destroy ALL of our LIVINGS ! !
OVER regulating agencies , ridiculous revenue hungry law enforcement , on board computers , Heavier trucks , NAFTA , etc . . .
It's about time that we start communicating with our Congressmen about all of this crap that will affect ALL of us !
( I hereby pass on the soapbox ! ) :-)
