ok so by now everybody should know at NP that YRC is gonna implement a COO and get out of the next day market. they should also know that some of that frt is gonna be given to the regionals. the question i have is will any of our frt that goes out of our jurisdiction be given to YRC ? just curious because even though i work for NP and i'm happy that we're getting extra frt., i dont trust YRC and what they're doing. it just smells like CF/Conway all over again. i saw that stuff go down with shippers changing bills and re-directing frt from CF to Conway and it sucked. the extra work is great but it should not come at the expense of YRC, considering all that's been done by the members from saving this ship from sinking. i got friends over YRC and i would hate for that to happen to them.

I have to agree with you--it seems their padding yrc's more profitable divisions for some reason. Could it be because yrc loses the most money?

np will get what the shipper will give them. yrc doesn't have control of any freight after they decide not to pick it up.

Guys...YRC never picked up next day freight until it started the velo program in which the company spent millions to set up. We didn't make money on it. But, they tried and tried because they won it in the contract. Finally they are changing it back to what Roadway and Yellow did best 2-5 day freight. Roadway and Yellow were 1 and 2 every year in the LTL business for at least 15 years(How many years I have been at YRC). You guys at NP and Holland rule at next day. YRC was just taking your business away and not making money. You guys make money on it. We are changing our lanes back to what they were set up as. So service will improve and pricing. Have faith brothers and stop comparing CF to YRC. 2 totally different situations.

i hear what you're saying and i agree with most of it however regardless dont over-look the CF/Conway angle here. and yeah, i understand YRC getting out of the next-day market due to not making any real profit and giving that work to us at the regionals but it's sort of like when they told everyone that utility drivers would only run next day frt when we all knew regular 2-5 frt were in those trailers and many roadmen were sitting at home. bottom line, i dont believe nor do i trust YRC. they can tell us all "we're just giving the next day frt to our regional partners" and many will believe it but if time goes by and those YRC loads get lighter & lighter, what will you say then ? aint knocking u bro, it's just i look at things a bit differently.

I agree that after change there will be layoffs for sure. I, myself pick up at least 3 to 4 shipments a day that is next day freight. Add that to the other 30 drivers and that adds up to at least a van load of freight. But, after a couple of months, we will gain long distance freight cause will will be able to compete once again with service. I do not trust the management as you don't. We agree together on that. But I fail to beleive they want this company to fold. All the money, time, and effort put into this all for nothing. I agree that the use of utility drivers were misused. Glad it will soon be over. Bad idea to compete with your own sister companies. In all, I know layoffs will come for YRC freight for awhile with the lose of freight. I hope the regionals gain and keep us afloat until we gain the freight back. Best of Wishes.

The COO is in place so is there any difference yet or is it too early to tell

i gotta be honest, i dont know. we have been real busy for some time now, even before the COO took place so im not sure if any of the frt on the dock came from you guys but i'll ask. they've been getting new trucks and hiring non-stop since january at my terminal

Supposedly you guys dropped your rates too,hey that's business.New Penn would never do that before, guess that's YRC bro

If yellow delivers freight from Columbus to Cinncinati in one day, that is next freight. If yellow changes its operation and it takes two days for freight to move from Columbus to Cinncinati It lost its next day freight. Even though it might still be hauling the same freight, just taking longer?

I do hope things turn out for the better for all of us. My big issue is that New Penn or Holland doesn't run into our area and they interline that freight with Wilson trucking. There is alot of freight that could benefit both companies servicing this area and heading up into the New Penn stomping grounds. We could provide those special niche type of service from our barn to the New Penn barn in Baltimore,MD (is Baltimore your southern most EOL barn?).

"AROUND THE BAY IN A DAY"believe me this is a $$$$ making lane for both companies then giving it to our competitor to service and keeping their guys working.
