Yellow | Shakeup at the IBT? Need Verification

I ask that the last poster be stricken from this discussion.that person is not very becoming to the Union of which said person took an oath.I also ask that the said person be stricken from this discussion.on reasons that we don't think or work that way here at yrc freight.and that said person is very bad for morale.us members that do work hard ask that the said person should remove himself from employment at yrc freight.on grounds that the said person is detrimental to business at yrc freight.if you really do feel that way about yrc freight.you are free to go work elsewhere.thank you and God bless

Well, it's a little rough to have him barred from the discussion. Maybe he'll re-think his philosiphy. Always be proud of your work irregardless of what kind of human slugs run the company. And....speaking of monikers...."canaryinthemine", I've had nine Union companies go out from under me. Gateway, Motor Freight, Werner-Continental, Hall's, Maislin, Mason-Dixon, Automobile Transport, M&G, and Nu-Car Transport. I'm currently at ABF, and if I close this one down, my next career will be to threaten a company that I'll go to work for them. Maybe they'll pay me to stay away.

This is to "Triplex". Sorry, buddy...technology has me beat. I tried to send you a private message, don't know if it worked. I worked at Maislin in Pittsburgh, down in Oakmont. As you know, Maislin bought Gateway, I was laid off, got a recall notice 4 months, laid off again! Whoops! Time to go haul cars! My apologies to everyone on this thread. Way off topic but, hey, there's always time for old truckdriver stories.

There is no shakeup at the IBT. Tyson Johnson isn't going anywhere. TJ handed the COO to GS. And the COO was canceled by TJ because the company was trying to propose one thing on paper and another thing when it came down to implementing the change, (hugh job loss), what TJ called a "shoe shine". From what I can tell, TJ is pretty pissed off about the whole thing.

canaryinthemine? It sounds like grim reaper would suit your history better. I hope your luck has changed at ABF...for your sake and the rest of us!!

If he was so pissed off why did he remove himself? Shouldn't he have stayed and fought for the members? No he was removed and that is a fact because he is not in charge of those committees anymore. I think it is a step up for the members myself. The way he handled the YRC and ABF situations leaves a lot to be desired. YOUR BROTHER ALWAYS!

Well, fact is, Tyson Johnson is still our freight director, and is going to continue to be our freight director, and he himself put Gordon Sweeton in charge of the COO because for one, GS is very capable, and for two, TJ is overloaded with work. He is pissed off at the BS that TDU has been saying about it, and for the crap the company has been trying to pull. The man is still involved, be sure of that.

Yeah well....I've only got a few years left to go. I would've been done 2 years ago if I didn't have a break-in-service in my pension time. I decided I'll stick around until I start looking like the Grim Reaper. Actually ABF seems to be one of the better managed companies I've worked for....so far. I appreciate the fact that they take my word and back me up when I make decisions on the street. I've always said that being in a Union carrier was an intelligence test, what with all the choices for employment out there. Maybe a workforce that passes that "intelligence test" has something to do with survival of company in rough economic times. I like to think I'm working with my peers.

Awesome . 30 years ago we had hundreds of union companies , now we have 2 and one of them is failing , who knew that all the people at only one of all those companies were smarter then everyone else. In fact I would venture to say you have displayed your superior intelligence just by enlightening us dummies to this fact.

Over whelmed. What do you think the freight directors of old did when there were hundreds of union trucking companies. No he did not go on his own. Like you said he was and is PISSED OFF. Then if he ran and gave Gordon Sweeton the position then what does that say about him. How about his handling in the ABF BEG BACK? Remember all the doom and gloom he sent out to all the ABF Teamsters? WE DO! No Gordon Sweeton is better suited for the job. I am feeling better about the Freight Divisions chances now that someone that understands our line of work is in charge. I didn't forget what happened in 1997 did you? YOUR BROTHER ALWAYS!

In case some did not know or forgot here is the decision.

Fair days work for a fair days pay? Our steward refers to this contract quote. Honestly, is the pay still fair? In my opinion, fair day would exist in my vocabulary, IF, we can look forward to a promising future. But each and every day, we at YRC Freight are surrounded by negative news releases and hostile game-playing supervisors. I view life as one day only. Today. No reason to gaze further down the road, for now.

By the way, I still do my job to the best of my ability. But for better or worse, our supervisors couldn't care less. Even if I come to work, follow the rules, and complete my assignments, they are still not happy. These "new" supervisors are focused on numbers, and numbers only. Boost morale and the numbers will rise automatically. Dog-eat-Dog!

I hear that, being at this company for 31 years, I know that the union people are for the most part, hard working. We have those that are bums but they are few. We at Yellow and Roadway use to wear the name proudly. They have tried to destroy us and it has not worked. Even companies tried to destroy us, going into debt and salivating for the day when our doors would come down, including your own company, that you now work for. We are still here. I suggest to all, fair days work for a fair days pay. Be safe and careful, don't give the company any opportunity to write you up for anything. Amen

Team486 is another disgruntled employee.let me ask you a question.if its so bad for you.why haven't you moved on to other employment?everyone feels the same pain as you do.not everyone thinks or does what you say you do.I'm in your boat.I don't worry about warning letters nor do I try to shove it up theirs attitude.

Why, thank you there, Fr8holler, always glad to see someone with an open mind towards education and self-improvement.

Not only ABF or YRC. How about calling a strike and then just disappear. Leave the guys on the line for 5+ months then say oh well just go back to work. They have been working without a contract but still paying the almighty dollar to the union. Nothing is going into their pensions, substandard healthcare, and management is playing with them at will. But keep those dues coming. Tyson where in the hell are you know?

come on now,why would anyone want to leave this dog and pony show.i get better entertainment coming in here everyday than watching the drama on the soaps. watching guys run around working more than than they did before the 3 cuts to keep the place open(so they think). its a blast. i seen a guy almost choke himself today swiping the time clock because he was to scared to take the rope off around his neck with his badge on it. i personally like the 1hr1/2 i get everyday just getting the junk fixed so i can take it out on the street. then got to my first stop and the trailer door wouldnt open so had to wait another 2 hrs waiting for service call to come fix it. in that time i was able to write 3 more MOU grievances for linehaul drivers doing their own drops this morning, that would be number 20,21,22 that have not been heard in over a year now. all in all it was a pretty productive day for me as usual. i could go on and on but i need to save some for later.
