FedEx Freight | Speeding ticket

Got a speeding ticket yesterday, in my POV, in a state other than my own. Anyone know if I am required to report it to my SCM?

You have to report ANY ticket within I believe 24 hours of getting it. They will print out a form for you to fill out. Make sure you have the ticket with you because you need the citation number and stuff off of it. I think they may also need a copy if I remember right

Will this have any effect on my job?

It might...was it over 15mph? I don't agree with the policy that if you speed in your POV that you will in a CV. They will use it against you if you later have an incident.

We had a guy who got a ticket for 95 in a 60 in his pov and he was fired. All tickets affect you CDL point score now, not to mention your CSA score. So be careful. Big brother is always watching. If you're convicted of a "serious offense" it will stay on your record for 10 years. I got one for following too close in 2003, it still on my record as a "serious offense".

It was 21 over. I discovered that getting a ticket in your POV, has no effect on your CSA points. Also, my state doesn't recognize tickets from other states, so if they do a random run on my license at work, it will not show up on my driving record. I realize that I made a stupid mistake, and I'm almost sick, just thinking about if it will cost me my job.

It will show up on your driving record. You don't have a state drivers license if you have a CDL, you have a federal drivers license.

Ok. I read on the CSA2010.gov site, that tickets or citations acquired in your POV do not effect your CSA score, so that's why I was wondering. Here is where I got my information.

Do tickets or warnings received by drivers while operating personal vehicles impact their motor carrier's Safety Measurement System (SMS) data or their Pre-Employment Screening Program (PSP) record? Back
A. No. Tickets or warnings that drivers receive while operating their personal vehicles are State citations and do not count in SMS or PSP. SMS and PSP use only violations of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSRs), and those regulations apply only to people driving commercial motor vehicles. In measuring on-road safety performance, SMS and PSP use all safety-based violations documented at roadside inspections, as well as State-reported crashes.

I cant say about CSA score, I got a speeding ticket 2 years ago for 15+ over the limit in my personal vehicle. Even though I got the ticket taken care of, It is still on my DMV report to this day just because I have a CDL!

Just my 2 cents?

Get an attorney from the state it was issued. He should be able to get it cleaned up for you. Esp. if you have a clean record. Deals are made all the time in our judicial system.

Just an FYI even if you hire an attorney and they get it reduced or changed to a lesser offense FedEx will still treat it as the origional offense. The only way FedEx doesn't ding you for it is if it is completely dismissed

If you submit the citation to your scm it's sent to safety,Safety will see that it's 15+ over the limit. 15+ over the limit is a critical violation,2 criticals in a 3 year period is suspension of your cdl. If that happens FedEx will give you the boot, FedEx doesn't care what your driving when you get a citation they treat it all the same. The only thing you can do is fight the ticket but it needs to be totally dismissed, if it gets reduced FedEx still treats it like the original citation.

That's considered a major violation with FXF. You are allowed 2 major violations in a 3 year period. So if this is your first be very careful for the next 3 years. If you don't report it and they find out that is grounds for automatic termination. I believe there is a federal law that you must report any violations to your employer if you have a CDL. I believe the time frame to report it is longer then the FXF policy's time frame

Thanks to all of you, for the replies and advice. I went ahead and did the inevitable, calling my SCM. My SCM immediately called Bill H., and he said that everything is fine, considering that my record is clean, and this is only my first violation. But yeah, I gotta drive like I have some sense....at least for the next 3 years. Thank you, God!!!

Good Luck , let us know how the ticket comes out for you .

Thanks / SMOKESTACK

This is why i have TVC to keep my record clean. I already fought and beat 1 ticket this year in court. I was going 30 in a 25 in my pickup truck but my attorney rattled the officer on the stand, and she admited that she forgot who i was. The ticket was thrown out right away.
