I've seen Cascadias at other LTL companies ( ABF and Vitran to name a few ) . Are other companies Cascadias equiped like Con-ways ? Do they pay for satellite radio ? Do other LTLs have a lot of problems similar to what our drivers experienced ?

I don't know about all of those questions but I out-pull OD with my 06 Sterling 10 k heavier.. They say there's don't pull at all..

At Vitran all of our cascadias breakdown every month due to electrical problems. They stopped us from using the sterlings on linehaul. So know we are mostly using internationals on linehaul which don't have pulling power.

I drive for Od.Yes,the newer one's with the Detroit's in them pull a little better. But,OD cut's them all back from what Freightliner has them set at so they don't pull as good. They want the fuel mileage & not worried about how they pull. The driver has to deal with that. They are all set at 65mph.Also,OD employee's are suppose to progress shift now so it take's a little slower to get up to speed. Also,Od equip'd truck's have no radio equipment in them. But,the interior&sit's are alot nicer.Cascadia's do have power window's now. But, all in all they are a better ride than the old..

At ABF our's are just a plain jane, drivers seat A/C and heat plus delay on your wipers. If you want music you supply your own.

Truth be known it probably saves Con~Way money to put the Radio's in as opposed to us using our own some Guys really have some over amped up stuff in there boxes and blow the electrical wiring in the truck in the long run less where and tear on the equipment that and if your not having 50 drivers loading and unloading boxe's into the truck every nite freight gets moving quicker !! a lot of wasted time is gone with radios in the truck now !!

I have a Cascadia, I work for Sysco, its set at 57mph, no sat radio, CD though, pwr windows cruise, pwr mirrors, heated mirrors, got 34,000 miles without an issue what so ever, its got a Detroit in it, uses the DEF, its a full auto 6 speed, our shuttle drivers drive mine at night and regularly pull back 2 42 foot trailers and gross up to 90,000 lbs, they say they can shave 10 min off a 120 mile run loaded, over the same set up in a International 9200 with a manual 10 speed set at 62 mph, its all about pulling the hills they say, these Cascadias really pull like they should, I love mine, I don't care if I ever touch a shifter again, they have made huge strides in the auto transmissions since the first one I drove in a KW at Fedex Freight.

If sat radio and power windows makes me have it so good. I will be glad to trade it back to Con-way for the 5 to 17% less pay that I receive compared to all the other LTL's.

From what I know, many people, not just Con-way have had problems with their Cascadias, all the same. The 2012s are supposed to be better, and rumor has it that Con-way Freight has some new ProStars.

Hey! We got cruise control too! Lol

I got cruise too Stoney, it sure is nice, my foot gets tired, my left foot gets lonely not having anything to do, without a clutch and all, so I set the cruise and let my left and right foot get to know each other, they tell me they like the attention I've been paying to their needs...you know the old saying..."if ya don't take care of your feet...they will take care of you"!

I think somebody is spending a little bit too much time in the truck..

Just curious , is your cruise control radar assisted and adaptive ?

At first I really didn't care for the Freight liners,BUT After driving them for awhile,I prefer not to go back to the Sterlings...

I've had one since jan of 09. I luv them. I haven't had any issues with any I've driven. I've been assigned 4 so far. Paid for Xm radio is nice too.

Its adaptive icuicp, no radar assist such as Eaton Vorad, the only radar we are getting will be cameras, pointed at us, not the road, its a policy compliance thing...I never liked radar assist cruise, I like the control I have.
