I understand and can accept the fact that a Brother gets elected and holds his seniority at the barn in the Local he was elected. But I do feel that if there is a change of operations and he bids into another Local he should leave on the same date as all the other Brothers. I do not feel he should be allowed to stay and when he is either not re-elected or reappointed then he transfers. No if you bid it you should have to fill it right away. YOUR BROTHER ALWAYS!
Interesting and obviously a controversial thought. And how would this apply to the B/A's who's companies go out of business?
Just Asking.
Your question sort of came up in 407. We had a 25 year trustee get canned because the company he worked for (DHL) all but ceased operations in Cleveland. And since he could not find any work in his trade the Boss of the Local got rid of him. But another guy that is the vice president can stay because he is full time at the hall. I have no problem with a guy keeping his seniority at his home terminal but if he bids a transfer bid then I feel he must go when everyone else has to report. I agree that the contract allowing elected officials the right to maintain their seniority at their terminal was a good idea for that purpose. I don't need you to explain it to me but thanks anyways. You also have to look at it as if he does not bid it then some still gets to have a job. And when you come to Cleveland I will explain it to you. Here is a little information for you to chew on. What if a elected official or appointed official bids a location and a Brother can not follow the work and he gets laid off at his home terminal but could have transferred to the gaining terminal and continued working. So if you look at the different things that could happen if they are allowed to bid and do not transfer. I hope to see you in Cleveland(065). Hey the hell with seeing me there on your way thru I hope you take the transfer to 065! YOUR BROTHER ALWAYS!hey muler you have to look at it this way. if the guy has a job at the hall he stays there till hes voted out. when he bids a transfer at the gaining terminal he will go there when his time is up at the hall. in the meantime there is onemore person who could be workin at both barns. look at the places the carlise people have to transfer to. most of those jobs will be filled with the people on lay off at these small barns. We had a man bid a job in new haven ct 20 years ago he never made it there but the point is he opened up a spot at both barns. do you get it now. ps maybe il see you at 065 someday and explain it to ya. ta ta.
Heck the only way I would ever transfer to 065 is if they would put the tv back in the drivers room down stairs.:LMAO:
Now there is a old school driver. We have not had a TV down there for years. Remember we had one in each break room. It is good to hear from someone from back in the day. YOUR BROTHER ALWAYS!
That is what the TM said but we never believed it. YOUR BROTHER ALWAYS!I used to go through 065 just about every night in the mid 90's. I heard the reason they took the tv out is because some one, well Id rather not say why!! Keep on truckin Brother.
Real well. You could be working UE or city on days. besides you could take a break from all those hotel rooms and nightmares about all those big boned girls running you down. lol YOUR BROTHER ALWAYS!ok il think about it. with 22 years how would i fit in at 065.
Hmm 1 day later and no response go figure
