FedEx Freight | Fedex vs Vitran

If FedEx Freight keeps up their tradition bending over EVERY new hire that walks in the door, we'll see how long they stay around. Seems to me the only advantage they have right now is global recognition. Your only as good as your employees so keep sinking in BS to cover numbers and all those numbers will eventually backfire and leave you either stranded or in a hole. It'll make more sense later.

Being a new hire sucks, but you have to start somewhere. If you think the only advantage we have is name recognition then you must not visit the other boards in this sight.

I forget, who the hell is Vitran?
And they would do what for us?
Word I hear on the street is HRO will be folded into the FedEx corporate office in Memphis and not everyone is going to go. I think maybe some people know their personal ship might be sinking and are leaving to Pursue other opportunities.

Vitran is a Canadian company is that right, Fed EX is Fed EX, if I could go back back in time I would have started at UPS, that is the only place you can still get a retirement from, all the rest are bottom feeders including the one I work at Big E, and they give a crap how many years you have with them.

glad you made plans for you retirement, was told by grandparents to plan for my own own retirement, was 12 years old when told.now 53.please enjoy retirement.will keep saving for the good old days.

Good point...may have merit considering the recent departures.

My biggest complaint about this company so far is there seems to be so many drivers that look down on the rest of the industry as low level scum. Gawd that pisses me off, I had one of these D-bags make some dumbass comment to me because of my user name (joined this forum just before i got hired), this is just not the way to be I do not understand it. Second is all the bitching about this place...we have it sooooo good. I have to assume that most of you never did the road pounding gone for weeks at a time making 800-1000 gross. Sitting for hours uncompensated at shippers and recievers, **** I hear people whine and cry if they are delayed 15 minutes here! Lot of spoiled whiney people that work for this company that need to get a clue how good they have it!

I'm sorry if as an old Viking linedriver, my well deserved sense of arrogance and superiority offends you.
There, I've used up a whole years worth of niceness in one sentence, ought to pretty well take care of my resolution.

How long would it take to create a ltl company from scratch in a country as big as Canada? We did buy vitran ladies use your heads Fxf Canada is extremely inefficient as it is all owner operator Fxf had to buy an existing ltl company just for manpower alone. It will be minimal impact here in the states as they are relatively small here and since we have zero company drivers in Canada they all get pretty purple shirts. Send our management there now get them to respectable and then slap some arrows on their trailers. Fxf looks at Canada like a big juicy porterhouse and guess what if they don't jump on it now buster brown will...good day all

Now there is a man who is thinking! And where are our NEW badges? I guess we will all get our NEW badges when they are needed.

I did hear the new badges are supposed to be coming out in March. At IND a few months ago we all had to take new pictures and was told we were getting new ones. They have an expiration date of 2016.

When I got forced to EKC I got me one of those expiration date name doohickeys
Saving money for the date I become "expired "

It makes me laugh how drivers at fedex call us at vitran bottom feeders. I guess your mad about all your management leaving and coming here. I will say that vitran isnt the best company out there, but I worked for usf holland for a year and a half and they arent much better, and by the sounds of it from all the complaining by various fedex drivers on here your not much better than vitran. I think that down the road its going to be interesting to see who is the top the dog in the ltl industry. I know that as of now its old dominion and there isn't alot of companies that beat them right now.

I don't know who's on top in the nationwide ltl business but my money is on vitran for holding the bottom spot.

Fedex Freight Mexico is BOOMING! I wonder why? It is ran different than Fedex Canada. Fedex Freight is caught in the middle aren't we... I guess that between FXF CANADA and FXF MEXICO and all the OUTSIDE carriers and OWNER OPERATORS, and the RAIL we might be in REAL trouble. What do you think?

How do you know its booming or how its run? Im curious and have never asked at work, and there is squat on the web. I have heard Canada is Union, and I have heard they ate O/O. And I have never picked up a Mexico shipment with a Mexican address on it. I assume that means we dont deliver it?

Well I remember a cover on the former monthly magazine that had the CEO of FXF Mexico on the cover. And the article expounded on the man's experience in the trucking business. He was 48 years old and had grown a company from the ground up, and then the Mothership FEDEX made him an offer. And he sold his business, and now business is booming since we have a Deep Water Port that is not subject to HSA punks. You guys eventually will get the BIG Picture. Until then "God Bless Texas" and Happy Texas Independence Day to all in Texas.

Vitran is on the lower end of the ltl business. It should have upgraded their fleet when it bought pjax. Instead they have intentionally let the fleet turn to sh#t. Bought another company, Milan in January '11 and are now finally updating their fleet.. I know they have lost accounts by the poor condition of the trailers, thats why it was such a big mistake of buying Milan without getting new equipment first..... I have to say that for the most part I am happy. I have a set start time every day. getting as much as 50 hours a week in the middle of winter. I worked for another ltl company where i was on a flex schedule / combo driver. And that company never bothered to tell me that before I was hired. Bottom line is all trucking companies have some sh#t they want their employees to eat. Take the good with the bad and rolllllll with the punches. Thanks for reading, HONKEY LIPS
