So you think these guys bailed to Vitran because we are in trouble? Your more creative than Spielberg.

Well genius if they know something we don't and are bailing you are implying that something is wrong.

Fedex is putting our management in place at Vitran so we can acquire thier Canandian freight..Welcome aboard Vitran drivers!!

RC, we had it right on this side of the BIG diitch but after the guy on the east bank of the BIG muddy bought us, well, ain't nobody had it right since.
:2437:
so I just do my deal, get my check, and go home.

this all seems to point back to the Chris Keylon departure in january and then rock island center manager patrick heading to vitran also. i wonder if they may not have liked the direction we are going and if they do know what lies ahead and that is why the left.

Okay I'll agree but what does that or how does that even affect these men that are going to Vitran ?

It makes me laugh how drivers at fedex call us at vitran bottom feeders. I guess your mad about all your management leaving and coming here. I will say that vitran isnt the best company out there, but I worked for usf holland for a year and a half and they arent much better, and by the sounds of it from all the complaining by various fedex drivers on here your not much better than vitran. I think that down the road its going to be interesting to see who is the top the dog in the ltl industry. I know that as of now its old dominion and there isn't alot of companies that beat them right now.

They are all the same treat you like crap, they could care less about the employees. It doesn't matter if you dock help, city driver, road driver, office, of even a member of management. All they are interested in is in the bottom line. But if the did care about you they might make a good company but not one that would last. Someone would just buy it and put the screws to everyone. AF-FedEx Watkins FedEx Vicking FedEx now we are just one big happy family.

I worked with Brad Mott in Kansas City and Dallas too, man he could throw some killer parties. He's been around since Arkansas Freightways days.

Same with Frank Hurst, I first met him when he was Springfield center manager and worked with him in Denver a while too back in the AF days.

You really shouldn't experiment with those pills triplethreat takes twice a day. They're incredibly potent. Triplethreat, could you please make sure the childproof lid gets put back on the bottle after your dose?

Keylon and company have the idea of taking the FedEx model...expanding the concept...incorporating some tweaks and refinements and take the industry by storm.

That may happen, but it won't be anytime soon.

It is one thing to have a viable and workable concept...it is another to fund it.

Without the needed capitalization to see the concept thru...this mindset is little more than a pipe dream.

FedEx has billions of dollars to throw at a particular idea...Vitran doesn't.

While Keylon may think he is the next Fred S. ( and he may be) you also need the monies to pull it off. They don't have the money for this to happen anytime soon.

It is rumored that Vitran is offering HUGE incentives in the form of wages and benefits...to attract the 'best of the best' this industry has to offer.

Good for them.

IMHO those responding and accepting said offered positions are looking for an easier gig. I would do the same. FedEx is NOT an easy company to work for...too much BS...entirely out of control number crunching...then we also are forced to deal with the self proclaimed FedEx Ground guru...Pat R. (who hasn't a clue how to handle the freight biz!!!)

Those who are leaving for Vitran are in for a rude awakening...not only are they going to competitive with FedEx...that are going to be in direct competition with every other carrier as well.

I recently read a post regarding the 'grass being greener' on the other side of the fence...the poster said "it is there...you just have to find the right grass."

Time will tell..I just wouldn't but the stock at this moment in time.

Rat, I am looking at this as a businessman, And I have a different spin to offer... All of us drivers have lived through the mergers and problems with merging 3 very different businesses. There have been many challenges that are still not conquered. We could debate for months AF, VIKING, WATKINS and what we have become and why. But, the freight business is about relationships. Relationships that are built on personal service and following through on commitments. Does anyone believe in 2012 FXF operates on these bedrock principles???

So, the outsourcing of the old WATKINS to the rail has netted us drivers an average $450 bonus. It was nice for sure, and there will be MUCH more to leave the highways and ride the rails in the future. What can FXF do to remain competitive? Will they have a Truckload Division like Conway? Will they Have anyone with their own Operating Authority hauling their loads? Will they continue to outsource the Original AF product to the Truckload carriers? Who knows? I don't. But I do know that AF, VIKING and WATKINS were all Profitable because of the Personal commitment that management made to customers to get it done. Where is that commitment today? I have not seen it in years.

So maybe it is time for a bunch of WELL Trained and EXPERIENCED LTL people to run a LTL business that caters to the customer and not just to keep the union OUT, or Squeeze every last cent of Equity out of an Operation before it is dissolved into another Division of a Giant Corporation. Money always chases Money! There will be Bankers lining up to finance VITRAN if the exodus continues at FXF. If You understand People... You will understand freight! In Closing, "IF YOU BUILD IT...THEY WILL COME.

This is my personal opinion. I do NOT Speak for Fedex or any of it's divisions.
