TForce | New DIAD rollout

I swear my Diad always used to freeze whenever I was really in a hurry....It never would freeze when Im out doing switches, no, that would be too easy....It freezes when I have 3 stops closing in 30 minutes.... I would AKX it and it still wouldnt reboot. Some of those things are junk.

Has anyone noticed that they turned the volume level down on the DIAD. So much that you can't even hear it when driving?
Word is some people complained that it was a distraction because of the loudness and it was a safety concern that could startle a driver making them crash.
They turned it down to the point that it's NOW becoming a hazard and inefficient. When you have a dispatcher that can't make up their minds on what they give you as far as pick ups, you almost always have to take your eyes off off the road and glance at it to see if the green light is on, or take it out of it's cradle and put it on the dash just so you can see the light without taking your eyes off the road.

I feel the DIAD's should have been turned down a few notches or have it's own volume control.
I'm wondering if this is company wide volume adjustment or just OUR terminal blowing smoke up our butts.

Its company wide, we have complained to our management to stop adding freight to us after we are in route back to the yard because we can't hear the diad go off and it is a safety hazard to continually look at the diad to know if he has changed his mind...

One time I got back from a pedal and was standing in dispatch talking to one dispatcher as I was about to arrive myself on the Diad. All of the sudden, it dings and I get 3 pickups from the dispatcher standing 3 feet behind me (he was a total idiot, hes long gone now). Not only that, but all 3 pickups required a straight truck, and I had a 53 foot trailer.

Now you all know why the rebranding of the old Overnite & Motor Cargo junk stopped.
This new DIAD really must be going to cost UPS a small fortune, by the time every employee who needs one gets one.

I see word the "package" a lot in the article. No mention of freight. We probably wont see diad V for quite some time. My guess

Buster browns hand me downs. The busters I talk to dont even use the diads. I dont think they exist except at freight. Kind of like how they ALL wear a reflective vest in their yards. Been in several, I'm the only brown schmuck wearing one.

The package car drivers use the same Diads we do. I dont think their feeder drivers use diads at all. They have computers mounted in the tractor.

Sounds like our dispatcher, one thing is for sure, they have all the technology they need to track us, but havent yet figured out how to use the damn stuff to thier advantage. My 18 year old can utilize this technology better then they can.:15::19::19:

Costs are minimul apo. They can build one of these things for pennies on the dollar. Small fortune, is just that Apo. small.
