Central Transport | After leaving Vitran I realize

Yes....as it I look at that vitran teminal

everytime I drive by....I come in....I do my 3 swaps for the day....8-81/2 hours sometimes 10. no touch...no hurry...no problem.....the only difference is when I picked up those 3 trailers....one had 32 bills in it with multiple hazmat shipments.....2nd swap was 23 bills....third one was 17 bills....so in those three swaps I probably picked up one third of any terminal vitran has. And I started at 75 cent an hour more than starting vitran people...which is what they make at 5 years too. 90 days got me 3 personal days and 180 got me 5 day vacation too. sometimes we make changes at the right time. 1000 sign on bonus too. if you open your eyes guys you can find them...thing is you have to apply.

:notworthy:

And of the economy was better, we would have jobs somewhere else, but since I can't raise a family on 10 buck an hour factory job (she would make more than me then) Like I said before, if it wasn't for management, this could be a good place to work

cripes man...stop acting like all the other vitran cry babies....you sit here wishing in one hand and you know what in the other....if you think it's going to change....I am deleting my account.....enjoy your job

If things hold true from what a few Fed Ex people have told me, new Pres cleans up companies, makes every quarter a profitable one, those who say no or we can't do that are given a pink slip.... don't think for a minute I have definite plans on staying here, if a decent, not wild, just a decent offer comes my way, between customers, equipment, management, dispatch, I would not show up to work today.....

I really do have my doubts things will really change much by the end of the year, but i still try and give the new Pres the benefit of my support, Vitran is at least five or more years behind other LTL with computer dispatch, I wish he could email forward the load info to my personal phone and we could throw them Nextels away, sitting and trying to get through on the phone sometimes takes more than half the time to get to my next dock.

get that m.f.'r back 10 fold. i personally get this company back as much as possible. from dragging my feet, to running my route in order instead of tighting it up, writing up the damages to the customers favor, not stacking anything so i make it difficult for the dispatcher to get stuff picked up and will sit at a customers place until they open (knowing they were'nt open but it was my next stop). the company treats me like crap so they get the same in return. and everything i do is in the boundaries of doing my job correctly.

1000 sign on bonus, what's the name of this company you're so glad to have found?

Not trying to get a big head, but the DRIVERS are treated with the least respect, but actually make up the most important part of the pie. We cannot live without management, dock, and office workers, but i would like to see more respect ,,,,, you'll figure something out,,,,, just run it,,,,,,, even though you were sitting on their dock waiting for that pallet like dispatch said, you missed cutoff so it is your fault linehaul missed theirs,,,, if you would have strapped that it would not have tipped over (sure, in front of ceiling high freight I am suppose to know they stacked that pallet three high instead of only two like they have been told and told and told) you were late for the appointment,,,, get the lead out of your but (even though you were punched in and waiting on them to finish loading) I see drivers made the scapegoats for almost anything. In truth, I do not see office or management complained at, but of course I am gone during the day conducting business to pay your salary

Sounds like me and this guy have been reading from the same playbook, I execute ever move play by play. I never get bigger than the company and never help the company get bigger than me. When i get paid on friday I always feel overpaid but if they short me 1 penny its war.

this site has alot of good information for drivers and their respective companies. I will be keeping my posts regarding vitran to what they bring to the table and not my personal experiences. we all have those. hopefully vitran will get on board with what is good about the industry. bring everyone under their vitran payscale....get all repairs done on an asap basis....and do the right things for their employees. you all take care.

I see from looking at this thread that there are alot of companies out here doing it right. When a driver makes change yes he has to pay his dues....wherever he goes.....but that's something most of these companies prey on is your lack of desire to make a job change. As long as you all at vitran are willing to work for 18.50 per hour.....except the drivers who may fortunately had gotten a raise or 2 before the freeze a few years back....then stop bitchin. we all have choices out here. I too made a change for the better.....next spring when the better companies are looking for new hires.....take a chance....and go for it. most will not.

Slugbug and Gladtobegone...You both i consider my best friends...I know you and you know me.....Dallas lost the best LTL men in the business...Both of you know im only here for the Healthcare...and some of the remaining friends are the reason that havent quit...Both you guys are my age and we are set up to retire if we choose to because we have saved our money and stayed out of debt...something these young whipper snappers havent learned to do yet...This mindset only comes from us old timers.....Slugger i know you cant just sit around the house...So take it easy over their...gladtobegone you are a get it done kind of man to...so you take it easy to...Lets get together soon for a few beers...Damn i miss you guys...And although we almost talk daily...Its just not the same with you gone...I will be over there in the spring...Put in a good word for me...The train is leaving the station in march or april...Talk Later....I like to say this in closing...You guys need to read the whole thread "After leaving vitran i relize" again. Within lies the fundamental truth of why this company has very little hope...Can it be saved...Read this whole thread again from beginning to end...And you tell the Train...What do you think? It was started by a man with great insight and character...A man of higher education than you would think a truck driver has...A man of integrity that is beyond reproach...A man that calls it like he sees it..The truth.. and nothing but the truth

hey train, I got a question that you might be able to answer..... hopefully. I know central freight used to be big, did they fall off the map? or are they stil big down in texas? cuz I remember about 4 or 5 yrs ago they pulled out of alot of service areas, once and awhile when I run west on linehaul I see them running once in a blue moon? and congrats on stashin the cash over the yrs, I am what you would call a ( whipper snapper), I am young, but I had kids at a very young age too, so even thou I dont have the years under my belt you would never know with all the grey hair I have from my oldest being in high school now :(

Yes ...the old green machine is alive in tx...Got bought out by swift transportation and is thriving here in tx...Down sized a little to improve there O.R....Founded in Waco tx..They were rumored for years to close the doors...But new management brought them back from the brink of death

sounds like something that vitran hopes will happen. I keep saying if they downsized for awhile to get at least a couple of quarters of profitt hat they will do alright. and thats y I asked you about central, I knew they were founded in Waco, TX, they were big up in the midwest in the early 2000s then just kind of disappeared. I will find out this week if the grass is greener on the other side. I am just trying to do whats right for me and my family, I bounced around didnt trades in the late 90s and early 2000s, I changed my ways and outlook at life, and deeply thought Vitran was the ticket to happiness, but sometimes it dont work out the way you imagined it to be, like a wise man once told me, " live and learn"

$$ If you cant make more money with better benefits try to hold on until spring when freight picks-up...Dont go backwards...This company could turn it around in 2013...If not the shareholders will most likely shut down the U.S. The shareholders will give Chris some time...But not past 2013...Ride it out Bro....Unless you get something you just cant pass up...Listen to this Old Man.....This aint my first rodeo..Dont give up the time you invested and be mad at yourself if he manages to turn it into a good company...Knowing you stayed here through all the BS ,,,and then walked away when it finally turned good would not make you happy...Hold on through 2013 ....Stranger things have happened..You have much more to lose than me...With your family depending on you...you gotta be really careful

Sometimes a man has to do what a man has to do....even the good employees are not off limits when it comes to vitran's lack of loyalty....when you realize that....then you will make the change....vitran does not care about the good employees ...although I will say since they terminated that old TM back in July I realize the do take the garbage out too. Dallas really needed to get rid of him. Probably the biggest reason Dallas went backwards over the past 6 years. Good Day All.
