this is a no brainer. the same contract as a feeder driver. we haul haz mat they do not. we do more stops per hour (semi not bread truck). harder to get our class a (haz mat). rember one company one union how about one contract? will everybody stand together or apart? good luck..

When you guys became UPS freight I was a Union Steward for UPS Feeders. Local 177 tried to have you put in our Local but the International (Hoffa) said no. The idea was to have you in our contract and at the Feeder rate.

I'd take a pay cut if I was paid the feeder rate...

Rumor is (remember I said RUMOR) that linehaul drivers will be paid hourly in the next contract. I also keep hearing we will be on small packs contract in 2013.

Personally, I think people are expecting all these huge changes and probably nothing big will change.

Why would linehaul drivers agree to take such a pay cut by going on an hourly pay scale. I hardly think UPS is going to offer an hourly pay rate equal to or close to what our mileage rate now works out to be. I don't think they will offer us $40.00 an hour with overtime after 8. We will be making 66cpm at the end of our contract. At 60mph average that comes to 39.60 per hour. Idon't want anybody messin' with my deal!!!!!

I can see it coming, ups is all about profit not the feelings of its employees and they are really gearing up for the use of owner operators, these guys will not be subcontractors for they will be leased to ups freight > another subcontractor loophole.

They will probably be used as cross country long haul. If that is the case they can have it as far as I am concerned. I just want meet and turns up to 550 miles or so. That is good enough for me...

I did some checking on this and it's all terminal to terminal drop and hook.
Sounds like linehaul to me.

It probably is Karenk. But until we get a new contract or win the grievance going on now it's hopeless. Unless the union starts fighting for us instead of the company.

You are right, the contract sucks and the union enforcement is very lax, the old overnite management laugh at the contract and do it all the overnite way.
I would like to see the package guys fight for us but i'm sure they have issues too.

I believe the package drivers are afraid of what might happen if they don't fight with us...

Our local Feeder reps tried to get us in the same local as Package but the freight local had invested a lot of time and money into organizing from the start and so were granted representation.

You know for a guy like Scott Davis made over $10 million last year you would think he'd be able to throw us a few scraps come on Davis

When I left UPS Feeders in Feb 2012, I was at 73cents and $48.75, this is the hourly drivers OT rate, which is paid on the first minute of delay to mileage drivers, for all delay time except the first 15 minutes on a turn around. I think they have received 3-4 cents per mile and $1.50-&2.00 hour raises since then. You must be making a killing if you would take a pay cut to be in the Feeder Contract! That said, I haven't missed that night shift job once since then and haven't been out of bed between midnight and 5 AM once since then except to pee. Carhaul may be more like work than Feeders, but the hours are great!

Well UPS freight is in theire contract article 26 section2..........it does not state Line Haul Drivers but after you read the section it is clear . You can check out
