Pretty sad that (THEY) seem to think (THEY) need this, i can not believe the direction that these companies are going. I remember when trust was a word that you once earned and once earned never questioned again. Sorry, maybe i am missing something, but to me it is like now you will be spending most of your time explaining to someone who has never delivered an ounce of freight in their life as to why you were at a certain point for however long, integrity anymore is meaningless.

Sounds like your scared of what will be found. If you do your job everyday who cares. All THEY see is that you are busting you a@@.

yup pretty scared since I retired in jan.after 20yrs. with Con-way and another 20 in ltl. stick around long enough and remember my post, maybe you will understand my meaning.

Just do your job, stay in touch with dispatch, you will be ok!
I am gone from Conway because I did not follow my own advise.
Remember, the Supervisors are under a more powerful microscope than the DSR'S.

We should all take the time to give the good FOS's a pat on the back for doing there jobs. I have a very close friend who was a driver and became an FOS and let me tell you, just like Longtimeltl said, those guys are always being watched and there decisions are constantly getting questioned and second guessed. They don't make a whole lot of money for the hours they work, the stress they are under, and BS they have to put up with. Mostly, FOS get a steady ration of ::shit:: so if you have a good FOS at your barn, give him a high five now and then because god knows they deserve it.

I just heard the Con-Way will be put G P S in the hand held so they can track your route and speed and, it will show up on the computers in the office . yes they now can in real time see how fast you are driving where your at how long your at a stop and the route you take :stirthepot::hide::thread:

Fedex Freight has had this for a year or two now.

You are 100 percent correct........High 5 to Timmy at XCO.... Swift kick in the sack to a few others though.

Wow! So many people worrying about something that may or may not be used to see if they're doing what they are paid for while at the same time making the P&D operation more streamlined and profitable. Anyone who is genuinely concerned about something like this is obviously screwing off and scared of finally getting caught.

I don't know if the contempt is out of being scared of being caught, though it may be. The people I talk to that don't like it, feel the way they do because they got into this line of work to "be their own boss" in a way. I mean, someone above you gives you your packet or chores to do, but once you left the yard, it was up to you how you went about your day, and as long as you got your job done, no one cared what you did. I can see their point, this does make it seem more like the boss is looking over your shoulder all day long, but if it makes the company more profitable, and gives us a better chance of getting our pay to where it should be, then I think it's actually a good thing. Either way, I can see the validity of both views.

I'm a DSR that covers for my FOS when he has to go and rescue drivers that run out of hours.... had my first chance to work with the gps today. I think it's fantastic. I was able to dispatch pick-ups, knowing exactly where everyone was. Had a customer call, needed to know where the DSR was as the were closing early. Knew exactly where he was, showed up one minute after I told the customer his ETA. Real time updates, And it does show your entire route driven in the trip.

I like it as well. Seems to me that ever since the GPS was turned on, my pick-ups have been pretty close to where I am at or headed. The last few days have been pretty darn easy. I like easy. I am not afraid of big brother knowing where I am at.

If you're not doing anything wrong, you've got nothing to hide. I welcome these advancements. It helps reveal the slackers who hold us all back. You may not like it, and yes it can be seen as intrusive, but the bottom line is we are employees and by agreeing to accept a wage for work performed, we submit to the rules & regulations attendant with that employment. As always, anyone is welcome to seek employment elsewhere in an environment they find more to their liking. I never discourage anyone from making a decision that is better for them, and if that is a new job, then good luck with it. If not, then quit complaining and do your job.

You are absolutely correct. To bad our leaders don't feel the same about their obligations towards our vacation, pension, 401K, wages, retirement health care (Remember that?), and sick days. If they did, my obligations would be a little easier to execute.

I have to wonder if they ever thought of putting gps in the sales and t.m.'s company car and track what bar they are at and for how long. Probably don't want to know.Just wondering
