FedEx Freight | Unfair Raise

You miss the point, I want the raise! It should have been more in most locations. At least enough to keep with inflation, period. This fuzzy math crap used to justify some getting a good solid increase in some locations, while others get like 1.4% (30 cents) is just a joke. It's an insult to our intelligence, especially when coupled with the stellar increases in productivity and profitability. Truth is we earned a better raise than they chose to give. Just to keep up with inflation, it needed to be 2.2% or 48 cents...Just to stay even...

They made a clear decision to limit the reward for a job well done. This is likely the smallest increase as a percentage/inflation ratio ever. They added a fraction of % point to the bottom line, but at what cost in employee "engagement". Remember when the 1st principal of the company was take care of your people? That was a long time ago, though...

I realize they have every right to do this and yes, I know where the door it when I've had enough. It's just a shame to see the incremental steps taken to reduce the value placed on the drivers/office/mechanics.
Exactly, Thank you Swamp Rat. I well written post.

Yea, Or we could call the Teamsters

And what exactly would that help? Hows Yellow doing? My brother is a feeder driver for UPS and got out of the union due to all the lies, and dues.....He still receives all the benefits of the union, but hates it. Says the tension between management and drivers is horrible. Again, if you are not happy with FedEx, leave and find another job that makes you happy. Why stay if your not happy? I am sure with all your talent, you will have no problem finding a job with great benefits, making 80,000 a year, 8 weeks vacation....Would that make you happy? doubtful. Maybe with your skill you could find a job making 100,000 a year...2 months vacation....Good luck. Dont let the door hit you in the assssssss. Times are tough, every time you quit and move to another job, you risk getting laid off, going to the bottom of another board. But again, I am sure with your talent and driving skill...arent you a 2 time National Champion....you will find many jobs that pay what FedEx pays, and with more security then FedEx...Go quick, leave.

I am being told that we will be getting a bonus, was told it should be roughly 575 dollars based on if you made 60,000 last fiscal year. And this was only for FedEx Corp profits, as we didnt make our goal for FedEx Freight. If we would have made the 95 OR cut off we would have received much more.

I'm hearing a lot of bonus rumors now too.
But the one I'm hearing the most is we (fxf) hit a O.R. of 8O something (86?) and that the bonus will be around 3%.
So if you made 70k that'd be $2100. Supposedly some barns have already had meetings announcing these numbers.

We'll all know sometime this week I'm sure

Wasn't it amazing that a company (Viking)that was delivering freight on-time, making money ( since we used to get a monthly bonus) and had good moral was doing everything wrong. Now no matter where they cut cost the bonus just doesn't add up and moral does not exists.

So if your an old Viking, you do remember then that we almost went belly up, had operation ratio of 105 and didnt get raise or bonus. When they tried to go nation wide. It was a disaster. But you only remember the good. Then FedEx bought them, and as FedEx Freight West we started to kick butt. If you havent heard, in 2008 we had an ecomonic melt down. News Flash.....We got great bonuses as FedEx Freight West also...even more then under Viking. But again you have selective memory. When we get back to that OR again, we will get good bonuses again, and good raises. How about work hard, quit complaining, and try enjoying your job, and let the economy recover, and when it does, enjoy the fruits of it. Hey there is a new concept.....

Mr Smith, Don't you have better things to do today then harass us on the trucker board. What is your yacht in the shop?

But the one I'm hearing the most is we (fxf) hit a O.R. of 89 and that the bonus will be around 3%.

I didnt hear that, I heard we didnt get the 95 OR we needed to trigger the Freight portion of the bonus. I heard we only triggered the Corp part of the bonus. Ground mainly carried us. That we will get .0087% of your yearly salary. 1 percent of yearly wage, is maxing out the Corp portion, which would be 60,000 = 600.00. Then we have the ability to get 4 percent of our yearly wage in bonus thru the Freight portion. But we have to get under 95 OR to start the trigger. And we were somewhere in the 96 area. I believe we can achieve a total of 5 % of your yearly salary in bonus if all are triggered. 60,000 = 3,000 bonus is all is triggered. So times your yearly wage from June to June by .0087% and that should be your bonus. But I hope your right with your numbers. That would be nice.

Yea you sound like you got the lowdown,
I'm just getting rumors. I spoke to a ATL driver that said he got the 3% and 80's OR from a meeting they just had.
But I don't know the driver all that well. He seems like a honest guy, but you know how it goes, facts and numbers get thrown around like crazy at bonus time.
But like you said. I still hope my #'s are right!

Not a bit, he was very respectful to me. Then I met him in Memphis in his office with other drivers. If you want to start your own company, go for it. This is a man who did, and created this empire. I would say you would love to use his model to start your own business. There is a reason he is one of the top CEO's in the country. Bang on him if you want, but tell me you wouldnt switch places with him. He lives a very modest life. You would not guess he was a billionaire by the car he drives. He has created what 300,000 good paying jobs, yea he is a bad person. Again, I think if you met him you would be very impressed also. I bet if you did start your own trucking business, you wouldnt offer better pay or benefits then he does. And you would probably fire yourself if you drove for yourself if you bitched and moaned as much as you do now. You do realize you dont have to work for Fred. If you feel you can do better, go. But like I have said before, I know many a drivers who have quit for greener pastures, and have regretted the hell out of there decision, and have either come back or tried to come back. And believe me, there attitude changes when they come back. They realize how good they got it at FedEx. I can't say anything to make you enjoy your job, only you can do that. :bouncy:

Seen that quite a bit myself.

I didnt knock Fred one bit,I am mocking your slobbering love fest though. So what kind of car does he drive,an Impala retired from the sales fleet? Does he live in a $120,000 dollar house and shop for himself at Walmart?

Why should he have to? Would you? But he lives a very modest life compared to the Donald Trumps of the world. Slobbering...Wow....Why is it anybody who enjoys his job, you need to make fun of? I bet if you met him you would be very impressed also. Hey I know we have employees who are unhappy here. Those same employees were probably unhappy at their last job too. I am trying to give another side to this board. I want others who are looking for a job to hear good sides also. You are unhappy, I am happy. Let the new employee find out for themself. Again, I know many more employees who are happy, and would never quit, then ones who are unhappy and want to leave for greener pastures. Our P&D board almost never changes unless someone retires or gets disqualified from driving or is promoted to management. Only adding on to the board. Meaning It cant be too bad of a place to work if I have been with company 22 years, and am still not in the top 15 in senority on the P&D board. People unhappy or not are NOT leaving or I would be higher on the board eh?

Im just saying I would like to hear more about this modest lifestyle,it was a question. What kind if place does he live in and what does he drive? Just back up your claim. And no,I wouldnt live like I do now if I were him. Your so in love your defending somebody you dont know against a percieved attack.

You got no way of knowing otherwise.
It's not unusual at all to see Fred, especially around here. (Memphis)
So I wouldn't be so quick to accuse motley of lying.

Of course Motley is from old Viking terittory which isnt Memphis.

Accuse him of lying? How do you get that from such an agreeable statement? Besides, who gives a crap if he met Fred. That doesn't mean he knows what kind of guy he is.

I met Bush Sr. once. I can't judge his character or lifestyle because of it.

Mutlycurr is showboating and I call bravo sierra.
