3 dead in SUV/fedex crash

Thanks for your crash post sharpshooter.
I see this is the owner operator division Fedex Ground that was involved.

I hope they update this. It would be interesting to know how slow that suv was going or if it had taillights or not. Surely it was packed down with 7 people plus luggage if they were traveling from FL

Thanks Apostolic, The fedex driver not being charged tells me they know more than they are saying. Still a sad story though

Excuse me, but how is THIS: "The groom, 26-year-old Victor Chacon, and two children, 11-year-old Tatyana Alvarez and 10-year-old Brianna Chacon, were ejected from the car and pronounced dead at the scene..." the fault of the truck driver OR the trucking company?
According to what I've seen of the stories, those who remained IN the vehicle are still alive. Amazing what seat belts can do when applied properly isn't it? Sorry - I am just not buying that the truck driver or his company is responsible for the irresponsible actions of those in the vehicle that was hit.
I'm saddened that people died - but there is a conscious decision made NOT to put that belt on. When something happens that causes injury or death because of the decision of the individual NOT to wear the belt - it's not the fault of the other driver that the people chose not to do something that would probably have kept them alive.
Seen too many fatals lately from people being ejected from vehicles who probably would have lived if they had put the belt on. Here's the latest example from around here: UPDATE: Man killed in I-10 wreck in Beaumont identified - Beaumont Enterprise ((no it's not an 18-wheeler incident, sorry Apo, it's an example))

No problem safety is my main focus for this Forum, whatever it takes to make trucking board viewers safe,it is good to post it here.

I'm sure the lawyers were tripping over eachother to get to this family!! What I would like to know about is the police findings. Odviously they didn't find the fedex driver at fault so, I wonder how slow, or if the suv was even moving at the time of the accident

Everyone is so sue happy these days it is unreal!! Here around Chicago if something happens in the morning the lawsuit is usually filed by the time the evening news comes on. They wonder why the courts are always so back logged......look at how many civil cases there are and you will see why.
