OD plans to have PeopleNet in ALL tractors by late spring. The story is on the company website but the link is bad.

We're at 0% here in MRT, but we only have about 550 drivers to get up and running on it. No problemo.

Was in MRT last week, very surprised none on it. Good and bad features. Bad, just at minimum limit to make it home, yet Murphy's Law, so 34 ing, then headed home. been 6 weeks. Was staying out 8. Got call, needed at home. Got call headed from COH to HAR, then set up for JCY. Ounce notified dispatch, they went to work. Shut down in HAR, then IND, now home.

i hear rto drivers are having trouble with people net not recording there hours right some of them are crossing the gate with 15 min left only to come in the next day to a write up for being 30 min over rto disp says several are having trouble with this but mostly the drivers that have the middle of no where met points they think its something to do with the cell signal

I still like them after a few months. I saw a notice PeopleNet will be down for 2 days in a week or two and now I cringe at the thought of handwritten logs.

Reason the computers will be down that weekend, don't think they can. Believe notice said 22:00 Sat to 00:05 Monday morning. Basically, anyone running the weekend best get last 7 day printout and a log book in order to run.

Found notice, 12 Mar 22:00 until 14 Mar 00:05 Didn't give time zone, yet expect Eastern like headquarters, or by each zones computer setting.

Good reason to just sit it out Sat night to Monday I'm not sure I'd even know how to do paper after eight months on the E-logs..

ATL is starting to train drivers on PeopleNet. There are a lot of long turns out of ATL. There is no way to make these when we start using the computers. Well, you can make them on a perfect day. If there are any traffic or weather delays you're gonna get a log violation. I've heard that some trucks will be turned up to give the driver more time. I doubt it. OD is big on fuel efficiency. I think they will get rid of the long turns.

Last few days it's been dropping or changing drops/hooks. Will show correct on trip sum, yet when terminal manager looks up it's all zeros, including fuels. Last 3 days constant getting false messages, shows wrong/invalid constant after arrivals or departures. Wasted 45 mins each of last 2 days because this system is a mess. Not tractor, been in 4 in last 72 hours. Even when hard/ dispatcher entered, still getting bogus messages, or dropped pay. Not only one, last night all 3 drivers who checked at our terminal this morning had bogus/none pay drops/hooks/fuel.

Wow, I would think anything under 600 miles would be ok. I wonder what they are going to do with the longer turns because that freight has still got to move, right? Bag schedules?? Or run everything off of the extra board??

???? we made all these long turns and runs with a 63 mph and 65 mph truck out of ATL., you just gone to keep the doors close!!!!!!!!! There is no perfect day, perfect weather and perfect traffic, I am from the old school, you can do it, if with PeopleNet.

Wow! Next thing you know people will say they're lieing on their log book. I remember when they did all of these turns when it was 10hrs. driving.

iamgs3, I do not believe you know anything about the trucking industry, sounds like you just started driving truck, you just get in the truck and drive. Thats all you know!!!! A lot more to learn then just get in a truck and drive in this industry. I'm not going to get in a PSSSSSS match with you, I see a lot over the 40 years in the trucking industry, safety, manager, driver trainer and driver. A lot of changes in the industry, may change 11 to 10 hour rule, CSA2010 which will affect you and every driver at OD., PeopleNet, new trucks, I can go on and on about this great industry. Can you?????? Have a nice day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We're making long runs with 65mph tractors equipped with the computers since last August, our long run WIC to GOK pays 648mi although the computer says 665mi .So far on a normal day we make our run in 10 1/2 hours driving time add an extra stop like GRB where we run 185mi on two lanes to get to there and on to I-70 or pick up trailers at an en-route customer and time gets very short!!I've had to be picked up a few miles away from the terminal a few times, and pulled on to our parking lot with less than five minutes left on the clock at least a dozen times. The point is you can make long runs pretty consistantly but you have to stay at it and work smart by budgeting your time, even going to my fuel stop right next to the highway costs me 5 minutes of driving time,or going to my en-route customer1/4mi from the highway costs me 10 minutes driving time so casual stops are'nt really a smart option.
