I had to call in an empty and Donna said she had 60 calls backed up, seems like a pretty easy thing to fix.

RC is sorry to inform you that Common Sense has passed away. Some day when RC has more time he'll post a copy of the obituary, it's a very interesting read. As for RC, he enjoyed his time on hold today and just kept reminding himself not to say cha ching when they did answer.

I just enter my empties on the hand held, it verifies and i am off and running. The less i have to deal with central the better.

Yea but if you are on a meet and you get an empty, they may have plans for you to go thru somewhere to pick up a trailer.

Yes but then the dumb azzes should have entered that in the next driver trip since they knew that there was an empty. Oh Im sorry that would make too much sence and would require to much effort on their part and also using the technology in a usefully way. I almost forgot I worked for Fedex.

Yea I thought it's purpose was to reduce call volume to Central but I have to call way more now than I ever did

They need to supply us with cell phones so we dont use our own personal phones for company business......The intermec isnt working properly....

Being on hold...

They put you on hold, so you forget what you're calling about, then try to write you up for being late, and then deny paying you. If you enter it wrong on your handheld, they still don't pay you. By the time you "correct" your log, while you still can, they are hoping you forgot about it. Without the log, what now do you have to "back it up" or prove anything? Sounds like a profit making deal for them.

Since we're not going to be paid for waiting for them, and the handhelds are to do everything, I think this company can save alot more if they just removed central dispatch. Let them see how it feels everyday to wake up with that hanging over their head...

Video killed the radiostar, handhelds remove central dispatch.

I was told to send them a message on the handheld. Not sure how long it would take them to respond. I just leave and call them while I'm driving, they can write me up if they want, but I'm through giving them free time.

You can use your cell phone bill as a deduction on your taxes if you itemize. Its a work related expense if you use it for that

I don't have to call ANYONE! FedEx does NOT pay my cell phone bill, nor is anyone required to carry one to be employed here. Just FYI. If they need any info. from me, they can send a message through the INTERMEC (handheld), one of the reasons they implemented this system. Which, by the way, is unreliable.

I have sent messages and never got a response.

Dont waste time sending msgs was told by a member of central that they dont chk the message board part of it very often so that is why no responce, big training video instructs you to all of this stuff and then we get using them and they are nothing more than a tracking device and oh lets tag the task pay to it just to say it is to streamline payroll.
