This question is asked on many forums. It's a good way to let the outsiders read up on why we are the best ltl company on the globe. Lol

I like I have a day time line haul run.
I like, night time line haul guys are pissed they can't get on a day time run. HAHA
I hate there are special rules for some employees/drivers at our crap hole terminal because they're always sniffing up someone's but.
Hate it they're above the rules. But, If you or I do something, holly ****tser, look out!

First of all this is to easy. what i love about estes is coming home. what i hate about estes is all the sitting around you do,gone all week and weekends working your day off to haul around empty trailers, dirty bunkrooms, crappy twins screws that dont have enough power to get up inclines and hills,

when I was at Estes Express I loved that I was treated as a driver, hated the good old boy system.

But the new V.P. in Dallas, when he arrived(Johnny Freightline) said "The good ol' boy days are over..We are moving in another direction"...Was he wrong,or misunderstood?

If you are not lucky or good at the job you do, you still have protection. What's a guy gotta do, to get fired around here ? I guess to some point this is good they are not regimental, but on the big picture, is this the very thing that will hold us back, as Rob has to fork out alot of money, for just plain stupid sh-t.

Job security is set by the fact they cant get drivers and the good ones the do have end up leaving

But where do they go? Are they better off? Take Teamster Elvis for example. He went to upsf and couldn't stand the fact that he no longer worked here and haunted this forum for years. If someone is happy where they are why would it bug them what goes on elsewhere. I think it finally got out of his skin. He hasn't been here in a while. I know I'm not going anywhere and could care less who gets paid for what. While they are waiting for the phone, I'm making well over $30 an hour wondering which waitress I'm going to visit next.

Well you don't have to guess what I don't like, The different Categories kill me, on the Road side of things, I would like to be home to coaching my kids, seeing my Wife more, etc. But with them changing stuff between Linehaul and Hub all the time what the hell you supposed to do.
11 years here and I can run Linehaul, Run Hub, and yes work a dock.
Love the 3 or 4 Hub runs we got running through where they don't touch a dock all night, good job saving money I guess.. I just wonder I am back in Linehaul near the bottom of it, cause I went hUB for awhile, if I stay here for say 20 years and
on my 15th year I finally get a Linehaul run, then 2 years down the road they do what they did 4 years ago, get rid of our Linehaul runs, change them to Hub, back out on the good ol Extra Board again.

The good is the Paycheck most times and when I get in my car at the end of a week of Bunkrooms, sitting around for 15 to 20 hours waiting, etc. and hitting the road in my Car to the house!!

Lets just say the Bidding sucks here. Two boards Road and City would solve that problem in a jiffy!

After reading the previous comments, I feel I'm on track with the general consensus.

I feel so much more happier here than at Con-Way (12 years with CWX/Con-Way, 6 in UPH, 6 in UPW!). You do get treated like a REAL person/driver at Estes, at least on the West Coast, and the pressure cooker effect is low steam here, unlike Con-Way, who puts so much pressure on EVERYONE that I am not surprised those guys think they are "Diamonds" LOL ;)

I really don't have any complaints, being an extraboard driver for 4 years now, I really love this job! :)

I have to imagine though that because the world itself is dynamic, and most LTL companies are too that things will slowly change, and of course, as I get older (almost 50 right now......) I'll be unable to bend and flex like I did the first years, back in the day (started driving in 1993). But that is my problem, and though I may eventually bow out, I think the future drivers at Estes will be damn glad they signed on! :)
