Good-evening ABF brothers, Im a 10yr New Penn driver from NYC who's eventually trying to move down to sunny South FL and i noticed there's a terminal right off I-95 Blue Heron exit. from the looks of it, it's real small and i saw a bunch relo cubes & flatbeds. i see alot of roadmen pullin doubles in & out of there but dont see many p&d guys on the street. i've been vacationing down there for quite some time and know the area well, i see alot of the non-u's all the time but hardly any ABF guys. any one got any info ? looking to start over, thanks in advance

Good Grief! West Palm Beach? We have a terminal in West Palm Beach? Do they use Relo-Cubes to store the excess cash? Is there valet parking for inbound road drivers?...And you vacation there a lot?....Hmmm, Apparently New Penn pays better in NYC than it does here.......Just Teasing, Brother! I hope you can get on down there. If you're retiring, even as a casual you should do pretty well..............................Hey! We're Teamsters! Of Course we can vacation in West Palm Beach!

:LMAO:yes u guys have a small yard there. as for all the extras u mentioned, i'll ask for ya. im no where near the retirement age but i got family & a small piece of property down there and was just looking to get the F up outta NYC. sick of the place. i have ZERO issues with New Penn. it's still a solid job despite being under the YRC umbrella

If your move is contingent on getting on at ABF I'd recommend applying first. They have some stringent criteria for hiring. Not that I question your credentials or skills and abilities, just that ABF is peculiar in their process.

Go for it.

Brother, I ran NYC back in the Mayor David Dinkum era. I suspect it hasn't got any better...for truck drivers, at least. If you can get on in WPB, it might extend your life-span by reducing your stress level. As Brother Muler says, Go For It!..but also, as Brother ABFer says, try to complete their hiring process first. He's absolutely right when he says their hiring has gotten very stringent as of late. I really think that ABF has come to realize there is a definite dividend in only hiring Top-Shelf drivers. It's also good to hear New Penn, as a company, isn't picking up any bad habits, management-wise, in spite of their YRC leadership. Us guys who've been with ABF for a long time suspect that we probably wouldn't qualify under their new standards. I think that if I had to re-apply, it would look like that scene in "Frankenstein" where the villagers chased the monster with pitchforks and torches.....

Ummm...Errrr.....Uhhhh...Well....after they let me in the door they have gotten a little gun-shy! :hysterical:

Hey PhillyGil if you dont mind going another hour and half south there is another ABF terminal in Miami that is always loking for good people. Worked there 4 years before moving to northeast Georgia. Miami does have a ad on their website looking for drivers. The only thing I can remember about WPB is that it is a smaller barn and they cover a big area. If I remember anything else I will let you know.

Yaasssss....They keep telling me they'll never hire another like me....They say I'm the "backbone" of our terminal.....or maybe a little lower down on the back....weren't quite clear on that point......

Yes...they are sooooo ungrateful for all we do each and every day, aren't they?

you're right, it hasnt gotten any better but the area i usually run isnt bad at all, just real busy. as for the hiring methods of ABF's brass, i know they're pretty tough & thoro. gotta good friend who left NP last year and hooked up with ABF in Brooklyn. he let me know what he had to go thru.
