I'm the last guy now.

I'm new to the company (5 months) & new to the industry (1 year 5 months), but, I will say, I'm very happy to be with YRC. I was a route salesman for 20 years, finally got fed up with that BS, so, finally got the balls & made a career change at 50. So glad I did. This job is perfect for me. Sorry for coming across as such a dorky noob, but, that's what I am. lol I've learned alot, but, I still have alot to learn. Been lurking this board for quite some time & finally decided to participate. Anyway, I sure wish this election would get over with.

Route salesman to freight is most likely a step up, even if YRC isn't what it used to be. Not too much is what it used to be these days. At least you get paid now for every hour you are at work. You are not giving your time to the customer who just wants to stick to you for some unknown reason and you don't have to pay for their mistakes. Hell, you don't even have to pay for your own mistakes anymore. Good luck to you there.

Would you all please specify if the layoffs are local cartage or road when you post? Makes the info better for people outside your local terminal to understand whats going on. Thanks!

Well, I got laid off today (soft). Got back from a 5 day run today (couldn't believe I was able to stay out so long) & told dispatch I got 5 hours left, he said, "Umm, you need to talk to Phil" (manager). Oh well, like I said before, I'm living well below my means right now, so, no biggie. I signed up to work, dock or road, but, Phil told me will only be road because they laid off over 40 dock workers.

This is a good thread to keep track off layoffs so I'm going to make it a sticky up top . So please keep the layoff info flowing . Thanks everyone !
