Not minding my business, waiting for my bills- I overheard a driver stating that Fred wants to get out of the LTL business, like drop Freight, only to have Vitran scoop it up. Sort of like a CF thing starting (over), creating another company.

Yes, I know, I should mind my own business. Seems possible to me.

I don't buy it just for the simple fact that this company (the freight side) continues to make $$$ and invest millions in new equipment, just my opinion...
 
I could see him doing it with Express and maybe he would consider FXF too and move back to his bread and butter. The profit margin at FXF is at the point that could go either way. Profits are steady but not high. I don"t think anything will happen like this until summer of next year if Romney wins. I f Obama wins I could see it happening in the spring
 
What a dumb rumor. Read the link on the second page of Nov line haul in this forum. It talks about how ground and freight are the only thing that are making money. Express was flat. Who out ther could buy fxf? No one is. Everyone needs to chill, including myself. There's a new rumor about how were all losing our jobs everyday and we're actually doing good. Fxf is buying a 1100 new trucks next year and were moving trucks like crazy to California so they will have enough trucks for the new laws. There's to much happening right now for fxf to be looking to change a whole bunch. These next changes are mostly for express. Bill Lounge put out a memo saying there was changes coming to fed ex but they would be minimal to Fxf because we've made all our changes.
 
Nobody will know anything until it happens. CF was buying new tractors too right before they went out. I would seriously doubt that rumor too but nothing in this day and age would surprise me at this point.

An outfit I used to work for was buying tractors and trailers right up to the day they were bought out...by Vitran. Not saying Vitran is buying us but that buying new equipment doesnt mean squat..actually make you look more attractive to a perspective buyer.
 
Sorry Guardrail, I guess I should have put made money for the past 2 quarters for your clarification, but yes they were losing money out the arse with the merger and all those buyouts system wide, and among other things
 
I don't know whats going on at freight but I work for Vitran and I am tired of every week Vitran management getting fired or demoted. Then the same day some guy appears saying he's from fedex an will be the new manager. Somethings smells and I got a feeling we will be the last to know.

Had another manager walk out yesterday from the Chicagoland area on his way to Vitran, You guys must have some kick ass something over there?
 
Isn't his name Logue? He is over Fedex Freight. The new guy that was suppose to make things happen for everyone! Duh, I guess we aren't included in that concept. I haven't been impressed with the concept of trying to run a freight company like a package company. Go back to taking care of your customers and your employee's and then things will work to get better. Mad ticked off employee's don't work like happy ones do. I know, been there, done that.

I feel like I work with bunch of old ladies. Just do your job cash your check. And be happy your working. 3rd grade school girls don't whine as much ad some of you guys

Yeah the fella u are referring to didn't really have no choice....well he did actually. But he was one of D.M & F.H's proteges also in the Chicago area. What ever idea he or a old head proposed under these two would be heard & considered. But with those two not around he didn't stand a chance on having his voice heard or with ideas being considered with a new RVP & DVP. I guess old heads stick together.......

you guys are comparing P-Jax and Vitran to Freight! You must ahve fell and bumped your heads! Vitran ahs 19 terimnals and interlines ALOT! I'm not surprised though by comments someone has to vote for Stupidity! That happened four years ago, I think most of his supporters are Cry Babies on this site!
