Hey didn't Big-R have wellness coaches at some of their barns at one time? I guess everybody is healthy at YRC Freight now or was this just another corporate expense that was eliminated?

:nutkick:

see bikes and other equipment around at some of the terminals, but I have not seen any one using them, other than to sit down on it eating a doughnut and wait for dispatch.:funky::funky::funky::funky:

had it all at stroudsburg , had stretching every pre shift until merge.

I think the 10 minute stretching was a great way to start the shift. Any team that works successfully needs an activity that brings focus.

It opened some eyes of the unhealthier in the group and changed a few lifestyles.

According to legacy Roadway Mgmt, it reduced on the job injuries.

I would like to add. That I have noticed that more and more of our drivers. Are not stopping for breaks or getting out of the truck to check their equipment or to relieve themselves.500 mile runs and no breaks can and it will shorten a driver's career and possibly harm their health.Until their bodies break down its business as usual.I believe that these things are important to fitness as well as cardio workouts on bicycles or walking

The whole wellness idea was used at Roadway and, like all such ideas, was a good thing for those that used it. The industry is a tough one to work in and stay healthy. Look around at some of the long-haul truckers you see, they look like walking time bombs waiting to go off. Even some of the folks in the LTL industry look like that. It may be tough, but we all have to make the right choices and stay as healthy as we can. I can't speak for everyone, but I would bet that most want to be around to see their kids and grandkids grow, to be able to hunt, fish, or whatever you like to do away from work, as long as you can. If you have wellness coaching available to you, take advantage of it. Sure it benefits the company, but it benefits you most of all!
