I have been using one of these. The video is amazing....especially at night.

I got the 32G card with mine....it records for 22 hours. It will file the video in a time stamped file every 7 minutes. If something goes wrong, or you want to review something, you just note the time and go to that file.

I also use it on my pretrip......especially when I check the 5th wheels on Tractor and dolly.

You never know when you might need a witness.....KK

Looks cool, do they have one that doubles as an undetectable radar detector?
 
Crap, the whole reason I drive a truck rather than a bus is because there are no witnesses to my activities with the truck. A camera would ruin that! :hysterical:
 
I have one of those dash cams.Cool device.A friend of mine said he wished he had had one when a Werner truck illegally passed him and clipped his truck with his trailer

Cool gizmo KK. What's it cost? Does it work on its own just like a GPS or is there additional equipment needed? How steady is the picture when your bouncing around in pot holes? I'm on the run but i'll check out the link you posted when I have some time.

That one may prove to be a double edge sword, the company will saying you got to use video surveillance in this case we want to use in these 866 cases :)

Check out the website....it breaks it all down for you....it does how anti-shock controls....it will not show dips and or vibrations....VERY steady.....I got the 32 card and a wall charger....total $425......I bought quality.....not some others that advertize as being the best for a cheaper price.

If you send in a video to them to post on their website....they will send you back $40 bucks.....very simple.....KK
 
If you would have used this to record the gamecock game they would have sent you $425 back this was priceless.

KK, knowing our union is slow to embrace technology, what would the pluses and minuses of a dash cam be in regard to non preventable and preventable accidents and discipline?

I use mine to pretrip my truck with....shows ALL pins are latched...5th wheel is locked...numbers....etc...etc. If something goes on during my trip, I just note the time and hook it up to my PC and go to the time stamped file and look at it.....I just got one today of one hell of a wreck where a FEDEx ran it the back of a bulldozer.....If I can firgure out how to post it I will.....It gives me a witness if something goes wrong......KK
 
I like this! This could save the companies millions. It would almost eliminate frivilous lawsuits/settlements. The initial investment would be costly but a company would recover expenses quickly. I have removed ECM's from tractors that were involved in accidents for use as evidence in court. The ECM will record vehicle speed, engine RPM etc. for 90 days accumulative. The camera would provide almost indisputable evidence. I was involved in an accident years ago that was not my fault. I wasn't sued since the adverse vehicle driver admitted fault but I would have been more comfortable with a video backing my account of the accident.
