now they say that there has been tandem axle dollies staged in the back of shops at numerous hub terminal that are brand new........but where are they going?...out west i take it? I haven't seen em yet

tandem dollies I think are used in hubs that pull double 48's so it doesnt affect most centers, only a handful that are allowed by law to do so.

We had 1 or 2 at IND but I haven't been behind our shop since June. So I don't know if they are still there or not. Yes they were brand new and no we can't use them at our terminal so they would have to be sent out to another center.

Well I was just curious...I appreciate the feedback anyways...because I run the Ohio/Indiana turnpike mostly and haven't seen one yet from YNG, Tol, the pads that sit off the tollroad, nor in SBN. But I keep hearing drivers talk about it. No biggie! Oh yeah, I just love that smart a$$ comment above from that anonymous user with five lame a$$ posts.....pretty sure they, it, or whatever doesn't even work for the company.

Oh, I'm pretty sure he does or has worked for Fedex/AF, but he ain't making any friends with smart ass posts like that.

Heard they had new sleepers out behind that shop also.

You wouldnt believe what you might find in that yard or behind that shop RC. Did you by any chance notice HILLBILLYS avatar???

That's actually HILLBILLY doing his security gig at the IND yard.:Poke::LMAO:

Isn't there a manufactuer of the dollies located in the IND area? I know we route our older dollies to GBO and they continue on to IND to get swapped out. Probably just waiting to get sent elsewhere. A road driver of ours that HAD to go to ORL(ando) FL to finish a meet and greet where the driver from a center in VA ran out of hours due to a breakdown, he mentioned that ORL uses the big ones on the FL turnpike with the vans.

I know Wabash trailers are made in Lafayette. Indy has always been a distribution center for the region, not sure if manufacturer location has anything to do with it.

I was always curious why triples and turnpike doubles and RMD could not operate in some states such as WI,IL,IA,MO for example. Most of the interstates are just as big or even bigger than the toll road in IN,KS for example. Also how come on I-94 in WI and I-294 in IL a tow truck can pull a whole set and tractor down the road or 53ft trailer and tractor which is probally the same length as triples or the RMD, but the states won't issuse the LCV permit to carriers?

We haven't seen any like this in KCY, although we are getting new Hyundai dollies even this week. Saw them roll in on a flatbed.

We could do triples on the Kansas Turnpike but don't and also from Goodland, KS into Denver so they're not too serious about it yet.

roog

true that driver! I never even thought about the wrecker towing the whole set issue. Because my whole set with the tractor hooked has been towed to the nearest hubs shop in il and in wi plenty of times.......

Fedex Runs twin 48's or I could be mistaken 53's on the Fl turnpike...see them all the time...twin screw DayCabs!

The new dollies are coming from Wabash. Old dollies and trailers are coming to IND to go to the 2 story tall scrapper here in town.
