FedEx Freight | Effective Feb,2013, customers to pay $175 surcharge PER SKID,if freight cant be stack

When I started with Express I was single. I now have a wife, and a little girl. The Express schedule is not condusive to a good home life. I was going in at 10pm, running a Dallas meet point, coming back to the ramp, and start building flights. Getting off about 9am. Pretty much sleeping, and working. Nothing more. Also, I never cared for being in a supervisor role. I like doing my own thing.

Pension plan be damned.

What exactly is "not passing the sniff test"?

Is anything about what im saying cryptic?
You think I just pulled the $175 thing out of my rump, then fabricated a Fedex career? What end game would I have in that?

Are you not familiar with the Express Freight product that Ho- humm mentioned? I dont think even Fedex is stupid enough to have a surcharge that could double the freight charges for this reason.

The notice broke down price hikes for each respective division, but just listed the charge without reference to any specific division.

$175 per skid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (RUBBING MY HANDS TOGETHER) Then hell I'll be looking for a pretty good raise then next year!.....(BEING OPTIMISTIC AROUND HERE IS LIKE SETTING YOURSELF UP FOR FAILURE)....lol

$175.00 will buy alot of cones. Working nights at Freight is the same - no life. The charge sounds believable, for freight- a little steep for Express- I wouldn't be surprised if was for all. I worked at Emery/CF/CNF, and we had to measure all freight and make it all fit into a shed, they leased space on the planes. The ones that got pinged were the one's charged for air freight and the freight was trucked to the service center, like DTR to DAY, etc...

I take it back- air freight was expensive, $175 sounds right especially with the cost of fuel, I can only imagine...

Having though about this a little more, you know what this is working towards?

Moving Express 2 and 3 day skidded freight to FREIGHT. Think about it. With rumors of Ground sucking up all the 2 and 3 day box freight, why not make it expensive as hell to use Express when you could use FREIGHT for much less, without the surcharge.

You are not paranoid if everyone is out to get you@@!!!!!

The ammount of skidded freight that Express moves is miniscule compared to what Freight moves.

In the market I worked. (Shreveport La) Id say that all the freight that Express collected in a day probably wouldnt fill a 53ft trailer.

Welcome.

I didn't have a problem with the length of time I was there, just the hours it took from my home life.

I came to Freight for a daylight schedule, nothing more.

I still work about the same length of time as a city driver, but I now can sleep in my bed, with my wife at night.
