Central Transport | Bunch of sales and operations folks quit today

NAS is probably the best ran break in the SE. Way ahead of Memphis (people problems)
Charlotte (horrible manager) and Atlanta (just a complete dump)

NAS has a great sales team ? Really, WW has been selling for his wife's expidite company, he's done nothing for Vitran for years.

i thought when our dockworkers load or unload hazmat freight, they're suppose to install and remove placards. we're suppose to deal with it once on the road. i know ultimately we're responsible.

You are correct. When hazmat moves to another trlr, placards are supposed to as well. Yes the driver is ultimately responsible for ensuring that the correct placards are displayed. If the placards are not moved at the same time as the freight, and the trlr previously laden with the hazmat has been re-loaded and dispatched out, how in the world is the driver hooked to the Haz-mat load supposed to locate and display correct placards? Not all Haz-mat shipments can display a "Generic" CORROSIVE, FLAMMABLE, etc. placard if the shipment exceeds 2,205 lbs. Are our dockworkers instructed to do this? Do our dock supervisors who close out the trlrs notice the Haz-mat on the manifest and take the time to even verify that the appropriate are displayed?

a mixed load below 2205 may use the dangerous placard. If one class goes above 2205 then you must placard for that class plus any other haz on the truck.

sorry, you do not know me personally, that is a game we play at my terminal to make sure each of us are staying up to snuff.....it does not play out online as well as in person.......

thank you for doing it correctly :19:.......besides fatalities, the last thing we need is more haz mat violations.

oh Come on now? Charlotte is a dump? NO WAY! I mean with a upstanding TM like MIller? LMFAO I had heard he turned that place into a dump just like he did in Kansas City!

I have worked with two of the people that left (Grand Rapids) and believe me (G.F. A.S.) are 2 of the best all round freight people I have ever saw, any freight company would would have been happy to welcome them aboard!:butt kiss:

I heard they went to Central Transport....Maybe they are the best, but why would they go to Central Transport. That place is a dump. That is not a upgrade, at most a lateral move.

they know either were closing up or they've been whacking all the high paid people and eventually they would be next.

seems like the office people like to play games as well, by not labeling paperwork, loading poison with food, not spacing certain loads, ect...lmao.

let's not forget the screwed up haz mat paperwork coming back again, safety notice about the UN# has to be first,,,,, i am still getting things printed in wrong order, reminded them back in fall this was coming, no one listened, someone need to get the billing departments in line to do their job correct, and take that class 150 shipped as fak off the bills,,, that is no one's business but ours

Why would they go to CTII ? No pay raise in almost 7 years, the V losing 40 million this year with certain paycuts coming once again and this time they won't be 5% like in 09. Chances are they won't cut us drivers and hourly pay folk but salaried are going to get hit hard ,probably 10-15%. Tell me why they would stay with the way things have been the past 6 years ? We don't know what CT has done the past few years. Word is they have spent over 10 million on technology upgrades just the past two years and the folks that went there don't have to worry about having a job anytime soon.

U made me laugh so hard at this post. Nashville is far from having a great sales staff. There is only one salesman from vitran before the milan buyout. The milan sales team left, a while ago. Nashvilles biggest problem is management has their favorites when it xomes to what you do for the day. And weekend work, isnt done by senority, its done by who ever has the sobbest story or who ever they like the most.

Really??? Do some of the qualifications of "Best-Ran" include; loading l/h trlr with freight located directly beneath a waterfall when trlr is only 50%? Bulldozing trash and debris to the front of trlr instead of using a broom? Continuously sending out l/h trlrs with incorrect placards? Hiring dock hands that cannot read or understand what "DO Not Double Stack" means? Whoever is closing out l/h trlrs at NAS must be doing so with blinders on!
well said, if you never stepped foot onto the nashville dock then you just dont know, supervisors r pkssed just like the hourly employees r, they dont give a crap. Most loads on l- h r loaded like city trls or they r loaded like blind monkeys loaded them. U can bring who ever you want to sit at the big round table. But if you have the same hojrly workers making the same money as tbsy did 5 yrs ago, and in that 5 yr span they buy 4 company, a whole new fleet of trucks thousands of new trailers and then u go out ans buy 3500 tablets and install your own software. You expect anyone to care???!???!!!! Well good luck with that one, cuz i got news for you NO ONE CARES, EITHER SHOW THEM THE MONEY, OR YOU GET WHAT U PAY FOR.

All good reasons Pops.

Also consider that they didn't work at FedEx so they are on the wrong team. They are on the team that won't get recognized when they do a good job. They are on the team that isn't in line for promotion and higher pay.

Husband said that V lost another one today. Somebody out of Ohio, he thinks - someone higher up in the org, he thinks it was the person sent down to clean up ATL terminal a while back. He jumped ship and went to CT, saying that V isn't long for this world. **sigh**

South Bend Manager turned in his resignation Monday! Their dropping like flies.

How about it? Are you Drivers gett'n a clue yet, or are you all still determined on going down with the ship?
