Seriously, they are training all our employees ( including us drivers) to ask for one more shipment and more bidness. Just imagine customer service clerks who are too busy or too lazy to answer the phones that ring off the hook taking the time ( that they don't have) to qualify a customer on a phone call and ask for additional business. This is a serious sign of desperation.

Regarding platinum service, it will never work as proposed. Would take too long to explain why.

Interline shipments, 243 yesterday, the customers will short pay them based on their current contracts and we will never collect the balance dues but will still have to pay the interline carriers their D83 splits on these shipments billed current rates with 40% discount. We will lose our butt on all these shipments, we will lose tens of thousands of dollars. Appears the customers are not being informed that their contracted rates no longer apply.

I needed some new scratch pads so those adds up pads came just at the right time. I'm bad and I know it.........Sorry.
 
Went to one of my regular pickups. The shipping guy I normally see there, said vitrans been on time a week. So I asked him do you possibly have more freight vitran can pickup? He just went to get his boss. he and the boss walked over to me and, asked me what is you Question. After he put me on the spot. I said you have Any extra freight we could pick up? HE and the SHIPPING GUY just Laughed:biglaugh: and said I made there day... thank UPS and Platinum program.

most places i pickup from, the company won't use us if it was their choice. we're only there because their customer set up the carrier. :Emoticon_digging:
 
When our T.M. told us to start selleng platinum service, I asked about how is it that he ask us to do that when we routinely cannot move freight as it is. They have us out there picking up freight until 7 or 8 o'clock only to come in the next morning and see it did not move! Then, who gets to be the one to explain to the customer why freight didnt move? Yep. Us. The same ones the customer sees day after day. I guess you would be correct Outwheeler, in that our usual service would be "aluminum". I mean by the time we get through hauling freight around, loading and unloading into damaged trailers, letting it get rained on, misloading it, and losing half of it, the freight will only be useful if it is recycled! If we are successful in selling "Platinum service" I would almost certainly have to expect that we will be hauling 90% of those for free. I.E. gauranteed or its free. They could call us Vitran Freedom Express.
 
that paperwork on asking customers for freight went into the vitran garbage. if i remembered correctly, i filled out a drivers application here.
 
we should change the name to W.T.F. TRUCKING cause that is what most of our clients say when i open the doors to the trailer.maybe we should get it right with what we have 1st then worry about asking for more we have to improve our service 1st. don't they get it we have screwed to many over for anyone to trust us with more. i would be ashamed of myself to ask a coustmer for more, i thank them for even giving us what they do. i'm tiered of hearing what are you here for cause we don't use vitran anymore. oh by the way is there anything you might trust us with that we could take.today just give me a cup and i'll stand on the corner and beg i would stand a better chance of getting something. let the sales people do there jobs and try to sell this service . my time is taken up with damage control at alot of stops. it is hard to understand the mind set of these people. and the puppets that they put in charge of this crap. put more time into what clients you have left and doing them right.before taking on more of the same fix whats broken 1st. then you have a foundation to build on. but you would be better going to a blind convention with flash cards before any of these jokers will understand what to do.

that will be the start of resignations here, higher ups cannot understand that a lot of the placed i go they would prefer it was a different carrier delivering/picking up

#1 reason,,,,,,,,,OSD,,,,,, we had almost half our P&D yesterday end up with at least one exception # for damage,,,,,

daysofglory - thats a good idea, unless we go out of business first. what do you expect them to do? of course we need to get more biz, because we lost so much last year. At my customers, they give me extra skids all the time when I ask. I don't need some platinum program. I need my job, so i'm trying to keep my route full. Do you not see that they could close the doors if something doesn't change?
 
You are echoeing my exact sentiments!!! Why ask for more when we are struggling as much as we are? It is like a state or county highway department asking for miles of new roads, when they are no longer able to maintain the ones they already have. They say "Oh, this new service will help us to grow". I kinda agree..., Grow our O, S &D department!!!
 
So, how do you think the Platinum AM service is going. One of our 10 am start drivers last week had a delivery scheduled for b/4 12pm and it was near the nose of the trailer. He told me that he got it off arond 2:30pm.

it's going good for the consignee, they get FREE delivery. lol.
 
They drop the ball some...But for the most part it's working well...It hasn't taken off that well because people have so many other options...R&L has the same thing but that company has a reputation that is beyond repute...People simple don't trust us. It does no good to deliver it early if it's damaged.
