Yellow | YRC Press Release 3 12 2013

also remember contract is 2 years away. the company is going to cut as much as they can before then. what you cut now don't vote then. also they think it puts fear in the others.

They needed this COO to pay for the new VP's Welch announced last week. KK, this NEEDS to be addressed by the IBT. Shared Sacrifice by ass!

I had to retire from Roadway early, due to a sudden health problem 2002. I was upset about that, but now I see it was the best thing to happen to me as far as working at R79. Roadway was using more non-union truck's to move freight that, for example, Chicago Hts bid men and extra board should have been moving to 309 and 311. Our road drivers were sitting around waiting to be called to haul freight and the company was using **** labor to haul it instead. I know that for a fact, I looked at the dispatch records and saw the non-union truck's backed up to the dock doors. So Yellow doing this now is no surprise and they will say they couldn't pay into the H&WF and just want more from the union workers pay. Sounds like CF, Jones and other's that the doors got shut down.

Yes, here we go with another COO! However most will agree that business is slowly
progressing every quarter post Zollars. I did'nt move last coo because it was Welches
1st since his return. Were still in business so this year I want some of the pie via mov
-ing expense dollars and live like a hermet if need be. I or you can't change how YRCF
treats there drivers but I know how to adapt to changes and put some cash in my pocket!
Change sucks, some of us been getting cake and eating it too! The rest getting crumbs
but instead of complaining adapt or move on.

Seems like endless COO's but at least the union people get the chance to retire or move on and that's a good thing for the one's not ready to retire. I just wish everyone will be alright in whatever they do and things will work out for all. I hated everytime I got laid off because I had to find another job and then always came back to Roadway when they called us all back again. I put up with that for 4 years and nearly had that time made up for when I had to retire.

Hi Shadow. I'm sure glad I retired from "Big R" in 2000, before it started going downhill. I transferred to N. Lima in Aug. '92 from 251, & have seen what has happened with the people that had to move when they closed R-07, then re-opened it for a few people. I feel sorry for every family that has to put up with the uncertanty of to move, or not to move, not knowing if they'll have a job very long.

IMO anybody that uproots their family for a $70,000 a year truck driving job is nuts. The only way i would do that is if i was getting ready to retire and it was a state were the weather was warm all year round. Then i would let them pay for moving cost and say see you later i retire!Ok all you haters, lets hear from you.

Every situation is different. As the dime so correctly put it. You will do what you have to do. For those facing relocation, CAREFULLY weigh your options. Best of luck to all.

Hey 2 timer, it's ponytail (309). I hope you've been well. It's a dam shame what is going on here. If you see any of the other "duck pond" drivers tell them hello!

I agree in part,if i was a young guy single and needed a change of scenery i would. But if your well established and have kids settled in school it's got to be a tough choice to make.It wouldn't be bad if they had a change and that was it, but these people can't make up their mind what they want to do!I think they do it on purpose just to get rid of people and disrupt lives! It's called "Shaking the tree" to see who will fall and who will stay.

The people making these decisions think nothing of Moving for a different title and a few dollars. And for most that I worked under, it appeared they are so self centered the Family never comes into consideration for them. Job is everything...My way IS THE WAY! Drop the Dog of at the Animal Shelter and Donate the non-essentials to Goodwill.

2 Timer - Glad you were able to get out when you did. I agree, I was watching things going downhill. When R-79 had us all on the dock to learn how to use the forklift one of the supervisor's asked me what was I doing out there in the class...he remembered me having worked on the dock everytime I got laid off LOL But they were educating us for things to come, namely for when the Michigan bid would load and unload their own trailers at each satellite and move onto the next. Actually that was a good idea for when the satellites were closed for the night. But I could see it coming down to reducing the P&D guys too, who would otherwise load and unload trailers and do D&H's. I really hope those that take the move's, that things work out for them and they don't have to repeated moves just to keep working. But then that's just me, I like to sink my roots in one place if at all possible.

AkitaDog - If a person needs to keep working, $70K job's are not all that easy to find with the benefit's of keeping seniority and the better health and welfare than working for a non-union company. Non-union companies can have you running coast to coast with not specific time off for family and vacation time...been there, done that and would never want to have to go back to that. Then again, most don't mind the move's.

As for moving then retiring once you get there. Every COO that came up involving Toledo, we were told that you had to work there for at least 5 years before retiring. But if you can last the 5 years without having to make another COO move far away, then more power to ya!

they can tell you what they want to shadow but we can tell you of many that moved ,worked a few weeks then retired after they had been moved. all by the book .
7 years ago top guy in Stroudsburg pa 120 took a bid in Miami had his papers in and a place bought to retire in . np

Boy, did I learn THAT the hard way. My first move, when I first changed careers, was a nightmare! After that lesson, I trimmed things WAY down. Now it's a breeze, comparably speaking.
For years there was language about Dismounting and Remounting a Mobile home for Transferees. Just hide the kids under the bed and save Transportation costs, and NO PACKING!!!! :bgroovy: Don't know if the language is still there anymore and for many Parks the only Single Wides still allowed were Grandfathered.

Yeah, I thought so, longblade. Certain, ah-hmm, supervisor enjoyed lying through his teeth. One got caught big time lie and harrassed me every chance he got after that. Since he probably reads through these boards, will remain nameless for now at least.

Wolf, that would be a good way to go! I'm all for not having to take all that time to pack up and move. Wonder if a double wide or manufactured home still on wheels or put back on wheels would qualify too. Don't think I'd want to see a shanty shaker hauling 'doubles' though. But then again they'd probably do a fine job.
