:hissyfit: Well Jr. J. & his new boy from LME< that's taking his spot> was here today with Ron Jordan & John Hennan from Chicago talking about how 060 is going to be the next Mini - Hub for the Midwest. What a joke this is. This place we're in is too small for 19 term. a night shipping freight through here along with our road & hub drivers, its just too small.:ranting2:

I just wish they would have told me with 12 years being here they would have told me that they were eventually make most things Hub, then I would have gone Hub along time ago, now I am just back where I started on Extra Board, using up time everywhere I go. Glad I gave away my Hub time to guys that have not even been here for 2 years. Ohhh well maybe someday I will get that Linehaul run I have been waiting for, soooooooo tired of this B.S.....

At our barn they have added a few linehaul runs in the last 2 years. They also changed a hub run to linehaul. So I guess it is where you are at wether hub or linehaul has more opportunity.

Its obvious to me this company is going the more Fed EX route, and they should figure a way to let our 12 years here mean something.

So what is the big picture?

Apparently its numbers. They started a new numbers system this week for city drivers, and its already bitten them in the ass. Drivers have to average 9 deliveries and pick-ups don't count towards the terminal numbers. We have 5 early guys who do appointments, amazon drops, etc. Once you make a delivery you are counted in the average. So these guys used to finish and start making early pick-ups, usually filling up and coming back and getting another empty. So now, if they don't have 9 stops, which most don't because these are volumn stops, they bring you back empy to get another load to get your deliveries up to 9 or more. Then they send 2 or 3 guys, who start later and used to run a route, out with empties to make pick-ups in the same areas that the other guy just drove 45 minutes back from with an empty. Numbers have killed many a good company and if this keeps up ours will be next. Double digit missed pick-ups the past 2 days.

Does anyone remember what this place was like say 12 years ago!! Now that is when we got things done.

Nothing, and do mean nothing, is ever written in ink at Estes.. Always in pencil.. All companies are looking for better ways to do the job... If it don't work, Estes will go back to the old way.. I've seen it happen a lot here.. Be patient, they will ge it worked out....FLYINGBY, quit living in the past... No one benefits in a Techno driven society by times gone by.... Ya gotta keep up or you get left behind.. More companies have met there demise from NOT willing to change, than those that do change... Where's Camel 66.. Red Ball.. ETMF.. Jones.. All of those felt like paying their people more money, that would solve the Techno age, it didn't work... They weren't willing to change...

When Rob came out in the video and said that Estes had made a mistake by not buying any equipment for the last two years, and that was biting us in the azz, I knew things had changed here.. Never, and I mean never, in the past, would he admit that it was his fault for anything... I see ours shops are starting to get back to fixing the trucks better and trailers too, instead of bailing wire them back together.. That, bit them in the azz too..

Well they have a man here that can work Linehaul, City, Hub, Utility, and my god Team if I had to, and that is the problem, learn the people that work for you.

Very good point FLYINGBY,one would think someone in Richmond would look upon that as an asset, one of these days one of these LTLs will do something truly innovating and start asking their drivers how something is best done.Wouldnt hold my breath though.

Well week 1 into this new Bull**** of an ideal that somebody had from Richmond is down & we've missed more pickups & deliveries here than we have ever missed. The sales staff is swamped with calls from customers complaining of Big-E not picking up there freight. We even have some national acco. calling in, 1 we missed 4 out of 5 days this week. Well at this rate if all of the other terminals are having the same problem I give the Big-E about 1 year before it shuts its doors.
