Tom Brady will have to find a new favorite target. Wes Welker is no longer a Patriot.

Welker signed a two-year, $12 million contract with the Broncos this afternoon. Denver's team president John Elway tweeted the news out shortly after it was set. According to a source familiar with the negotiations, the contract is fully guaranteed.

Despite some earlier reports to the contrary, Welker did not give the Patriots a chance to match the deal.

Another classic case of management ( Krafty the owner & Belichick coach extraordinaire ) dropping the ball , big time. Woe is Brady , he will surely get pounded without Wes to flip to.

Yes it is, but Welker has earned that, he took a beating on his pass receiving, plus Belichick , knowing that he wasnt going to re-sign him, ground him right down by having him return punts. This was with the Gronk out , Hernandez the other tight end marginally healthy ,and Lloyd the deep threat non performing. If Welker got hurt, the Patriots would have been up the creek. Nothing but the best to Wes.

Its gonna be alot of old faces in new places next year.I cant remember free agency ever being like this, with the number of big name players changing teams. My Panthers are in cap hell thanks to our former General Manager and will not be able to fill any holes{their are many) through free agency.

"Good things never last"... Time for Wes to move on.. From what I read in an article, the Pats had already made their minds up last year when they had the talks going on.. They signed the WR from the Rams awful quick, didn't they? So, Belichek has to regroup and put someone else in there.. Maybe they have a 50 year receiver out of retirement that they can use... How bout Rice, think he would come and help?

My Saints are in a similar situation, but the players have come forward and said they would take cuts, even Drew... I seen where they signed a CB from the Steelers the other day.. Suppose to be an up and coming talent... Hasn't been in the league but three years.. Hometown boy, from what I gather....

Great addition for that offense. Welker can run those short routes for Paytens dying arm.

Indeed , he was keeping Brady's stats up there with the same thing, now he will enhance Peyton's career , and diminish Brady's , as Tom hasnt been adapting to his new talent , look at the flop OCHO was , and Brandon Lloyd.....

I wish Welker the best. One of the most surehanded receivers ever, unfortunately, the few drops he had occurred at crucial points in season ending losses. It was certainly a pleasure to watch a guy who's size would make you think he had no business even playing in the NFL, play at the level he has in New England. I think Woodhead is going too so it looks like Belichek is over the midget thing, although they do still have Julian Edelman a guy that I would like to see get more playing time. In the end, who really cares, it's just a game.

Woodhead is gone too , now Brady has to adapt to the other players, change his mo. He dont throw long enough, which allows the defense to compress their coverage. Edelman was a qb in college , he should be used like Vince Lombardi used Paul Hornung, maybe a few option passes a season , sweeps ect.

Elway is a smart businessman.By adding Welker,he probably just added 2 more years to Mannings ability to play at a high level.

Yes and Belicheck just diminished Brady's career, Tom is no Brett Favre who could take a beating, Tom doesnt like his feathers ruffled.

NE was running the ball better than they ever have. With Ridley and Vereen they have a couple of quality RBs. Gronk and Hernandez are a heck of a receiving TE combo. I would not shed to many tears for Tom Brady right now.

Close to 250 catches and 3000 yards the last two seasons will be missed.Reliable possession receiver that had excellent chemistry with Brady will be sorely missed by the Pats.
