Is it your TM, Out bound, in bound dispatch (for P&D pickups) At my place it is the first 2...... TM needs to drop his "but buddies" and pay attention to those who get the job done,,,, morning outbound needs to get the idea this is 2013, NOT 1913,,, back tracking and "i hope it is ready" does not cut it anymore, and both of the issues causes undo stress on the 3rd,,,,,,, it's not my route... why should i help out over there,,,, that is to far even though i am on overtime and complain about not enough hours......... so sick of everyone's excuses!

i am hourly, add to my day,,,,,,,,,,,,,,make more money,,,,,,,,, help out so and so on another route,,,,,,,, make more money,,,,,,,,,,, it's not my route to deal with,,,,,,,, someone got swamped and they need my help,,,,,,, more money,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

what part of this do i not get?????????:ranting2:

the same as it has been to many chiefs not enough indains . and IF there was a chance to make what senior drivers make .. Will never catch up. I GIVE Up!!!! For now on Punch in and out.!!!!! do my job... and let the chips fall where they will...:sadwavey:

just tires of a certain few who can do what they want, and dispatch has no control over it. 75 miles to home, you are asked to go 15 miles out of your way and get 2 picks on the fringes of another persons route at 4 pm because they close at 5, and these few get to say NO, it's not my route, now dispatch has to explain to customer that the route truck is so tied up he just can't do it. one day this week, i had to ask customer to peel trailer and double stack everything like linehaul trailer to get their 12 skids in, but 30 miles away next route guy only had half a trailer and was going home because it was "Miller Time"

chasing Greatness one headache at a time

You must look at things in the big picture to make any sense at all of things that are going on. Changing this company is going to be a long and slow process and will take at least a few years. And don't think they haven't got enough investors to see this change through, because they do. The whole corporate mentality must be changed and we are stuck right in the middle of this changing process.......CK knows he can't introduce to many changes at once because of all the neglect that has went on for years..Baby steps are really his only smart move...He's starting to weed out bad players right now...Drivers...management....dock....sales...some just are falling victim of being in the wrong place at the wrong time, others just need to be gone.....As we move along he will get the bad TM's but for now he has to work with what he has. See it all starts with the TM because he controls all operational things that go on in a service center. Once he finds a good TM he will implement his strategy throughout the system...From city dispatch to all operational changes that must take place. He will send someone down to each SC with problems and make all the changes that must be made...It will be a long process as it was for AF and OD and the many more..CK trained under the best and he has the skills to turn this place around its just going to be a long and slow process. All I can say for me personally is that if I wasn't topped out I would be gone because its gonna get a lot worse before it gets better. Many may not agree with my take on things but that ok because we all have our own opinions and I respect that.

not wanted i know what you are saying i hear you loud and clear i understand what train is selling also. it is so damn stressfull when you are already set up to fail before you even get in the truck. somedays i can let it roll off my back and others i can't. the select few are sent to same area everyday and then you are sent to a different one everyday guys are being sent to area's i have done for years and i'm going to theirs they don't know mine and i don't know theirs and product is returned missed or what ever when you try to bring this to their attention they tell you some bs and cry about missed del.or pu. i have run my ass off to make pick ups only to find out guys came back half full or with nothing at all, while i made a 50 mile run to get one skid and 50 miles back to get 10 or more when another was in area 1hr before i got there and delivered there. and then the coustomer tells me he had only 2 skids in trailer and offered to even move them to put his one in if he wanted told him no someone elese would be there. hell i know it will take forever and a day to fix this but my god we are all in the same company. but we still have the ones who can only go to this stop or that one while i run around in an area i don't know trying to locate places i have never been to so they can do what ever.and then the pressure is put on me it sucks. i just don't understand the logic. this is not rocket science. hell if a fellow worker needs back up fine by me. i'll be there to help him out in a heart beat.but hell the areas i go to now if you get gps takes you on one wrong road or your own office people put the address in wrong you are screwed with no chance of getting turned around until you go 20 or 30 miles out of your way. other guys will say oh if you would have taken this route or that you would have been able to get here or there well that's great you know the area. then why am i here if you know this area and why are you in the area i know hell my dispatch has been trying to get me back into the area i know now for months but it falls on deaf ears . it drains you of all your energy i'm spent when i get home i have no idea of what i'm doing from one day to the next i have no knowledge of the stops or the people that work there what times they are good for if i can go there later or not. hell i went into area i knew last week and coustomer told me if you would have been here last week i would have let you come in late to pick up our order. i knew you were not hte driverbecause you always would call 1st to find out what it was we were shipping and what time. sence you have not been here in so long i sent it out with new england when your driver didn't show up by a certian time. and why when they do come is it always somebody different. right there lost business.some don't care who picks up others do cause you have a repour with them over the years. i just don't get it we cater to the the wrong people and lose good ones why i just don't understand.

When i was wit vitran, and when they bought milan, (big mistake), nashville grew alot, they took on more crappy acts, and they also took on most of all of milans management. So your 25yr vet from milan, was on the bottom of the VITRAN SENORITY, and do u think that is how it was??? I beg to differ, they treated the milan employees like they were still top dog, the favortism was so frickin mind boggling, it got to the point of pulling ur hair out, weekend runs were givin to the ones they liked, senority???? The t.m ( which was milans regional manager) said , " this is not a union shop, ur senority is only good for how many vac days u get a yr". That was in his introduction to his new slaves. The routes that vitra n employees used to trun for years went to milans butt buddies of the t.ms. that place was is and will forever be a joke, when they, demoted our t.m during the move in with milan, everyone was as happy as a kid on a toys r us toy giveaway. Everyone but me, i told them all be careful what u wish for, and their words bit them in the asz.

I have met Ron Madison, and have worked with him in the past. I have not experienced the "favoritism" you speak of. When we were bought out, we were referred to as Milan "Legacy" employees. We started off as new employees of Vitran. No extra anything that was over and above any Vitran employee of same tenure. Ron is a good person. Do your job better than what is expected, and you will have no problem. Does anyone go the extra mile anymore?

If fixing things is going to take two years, we will be burnt toast and you know where that goes. Tell me about these investors Train, who are the? As for CK, he didn't cut it at FedEx. What comes from the moles at the corp office and other high places is not matching up with what you said in this post.

They will come from everwhere when the company turns the corner to profitability....Listen it is always possible I'm wrong, I don't have a crystal ball. I struggle at times to remain positive...To make sense out of what appears to be nonsense...I can't always remain negative but I'm finding harder with each day that passes to remain positive. All good things in life never come easy. Things take time. But like sand in an hour glass will time run out before we fall. I don't think anyone knows that anwser.

Yeah man, stay positive; we can DO this!

My magic 8 ball told me I should remain positive last week.....But I shook it again today and ask it if I should still remain positive and it said ....."no definitely not".....So I may get the hell out of town by taking my vacation..."asap"......I'm so confused......LOL

Well the idiots who thought a TM could get a raise in a company who's dock employees and drivers don't give a **** shouldn't believed that crap anyways. What is holding Vitran back is CLAIMS...Workers Comp and repairs. If everyone would have a little more pride in your job and treat the freight like it was your own things would get better. If employees would work smart and not do stupid crap to get hurt, things would get better.
But until those costs are cut down....Don't bet on a raise or even make money.
How do you think OD has became the best carrier in America? They don't damage freight! There claim ratio is lower that 1%....Vitran's was almost 17% in 2012.

Vitran's (our) claim ratio is no where close to 17%, where the he!! did you get that. Don't pull numbers out of your backside. We/Vitran is in big big big trouble but if our claim ratio was 17% we would be done and closed in two months. Actual claims ratio is closer to 4% of all shipments, still way to high to stay in business long term but no where near 17%.

Back to NW original question, I believe it is the "ME" and "MY" attitude. Too many here are looking to get the most return for as little input as possible. From the top down. Not EVERYONE, just too many. Why does Vitran exist? Why was the business formed? What was the ultimate goal at it's inception? To make a profit. That should be the goal of any business. However, when your business develops too many barnacles and leeches, and fewer producers, your company gets dragged down. Come to think of it, Vitrans situation is not that dissimilar from that of the U.S. economy! You reap what you sew.

It's managements job to change things and make good decisions. And they have made some head way. But some of the people they fired in management didn't make good business sense. And they forced many to quit and replaced them with less competent people. We as the labor can only do so much..Management is the key to this companies turn around..And it's true you do reap what you sow. Management here have hurt many people and theirs families and will most certainly pay the price. Some deserved to lose their jobs but others didn't. There only mistake was being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
