Just woke up and looking forward to another night at Vitran!! I know its kinda weird, but i actually love my job. I'm not saying i like everything about it, but the good outweighs the bad. Yes, i would like better equipment. Yes, i would like better pay. But, the point is, my bills still get paid and i am home with my family every day and on weekends. The only time i feel like i am working is when i am at the terminals on the dock, otherwise i am just on another "roadtrip." Just wanted to come on here and tell everybody to have a good day and to say thanks to all you guys that make my nights on the road a whole lot better! Thanks guys!!
 
I guess 2 and a half years is relatively new. Theres plenty to b***h and complain about over here, im just tired of being unhappy and want to try to see the positive side of things. We have some really good people at this company that make it worth working for, but then again, we also have a bunch of idiots too. Guess im just thankful for what i do have...

I love my job too, sure beats OTR for weeks at a time, but like so many others, it comes down to who you work for, that is where a lot of us take issue. I just keep telling myself "it pays by the hour and the checks still cash"
keep looking for something to make myself happy
 
How about some physiological psychology the train is so famous for.....That everybody hates to read...I think I will go there tonight.

Be miserable or motivate yourself. Whatever has to be done, it's always your choice. Theres no scarcity of opportunity to make a living at what you love, there is only scarcity of resolve to make it happen. Simply put, you believe that things or people make you unhappy, but this is not accurate. You make yourself unhappy. Our lives are the sum total of the choices we have made. I know you guys hate it when the train goes deep...Thats why I keep it toned down....That will hold me for about a month. And no I haven't been hitting the Crown maple.

and when the days are good, i love my job too, but, the bad/problem days out number the good ones anymore.
 
Most of you guys must be P&D I take it? I friend of mine works linehaul there and says 1/3 of his night is spent unpaid, between waiting for a truck to start, to waiting for a return load (won't let him work the dock) he spends up to 4-5hrs uncompensated....he's talking bout getting the labor board involved

Don't forget spending a minimum of a hour in the shop for repairs every night. All FREE.

Federal Labor Board? Will not touch this. Linehaul is paid miles, and not required to pay anything extra (under fed law, your state may vary) just like salary guys who work 40 hours then zoom to 70 hours, unless you are hourly, they legally owe you nothing extra.

Actually our state has rules about salary too....and if you aren't allowed to leave work, they gotta pay
